distortion when recording

The player is fine when playing tracks, but the sound when recording is very distorted and like an old tape recorder. Is it fixable?

What if you listen to your recordings on a different player i.e. your PC)? Do they play well?

Have you tried to repair the gogear, to check whether this can help?
