I have just purchased a CE153DR/05 and had it installed professionally. The user manual has a nice big graphic on it saying "Question? Contact Philips" and then gives absolutely no information on how to do this. ON the Philips website I am unable to find anywhere to get support other than this forum. Basically my CE153 display is next to useless in the daytime...the manual, box and promotional pictures show a nice crisp display but it is so dim that the slightest bit of light reflecting on the radio and I have to cup my hands round the display to see what it says - useless. There is no instruction in the manual as to how to increase the brightness. I have been back to Halfords who fitted it for me and they have no idea either. Any help from anyone, anywhere would be much appreciated.

Which country are you in? In Spain (where I am), when I go to the product page of my HTS8100, there is a box in the upper right hand corner to contact Chat Support. I have used it 4 times in the past week. Very convenient and they connect with you almost immediately.
Good luck.

Unfortunately, this might be different from country to country: I remember one case where I suggested that a poster should ask in the Chat, but for him, there was no Chat available (Belgium, French language -> the Chat button is missing).

I also just received an email reply to the message that I sent a few days ago. So for me, in Spain, the customer service has been quite attentive. The reply also came in English. If you cannot find chat in your country, try a different country. I used the chat function on the UK website for my product (HTS8100). They detected that my IP was in Spain, and said that they couldn't give me any actual help, but the CSR did answer my questions thoroughly. So maybe you can at least get an answer about adjusting the brightness of your LCD screen.

I had a scan through the .pdf User Manual and could not find anything about adjusting the screen brightness.

Good luck!

By the way, I was on with Philips UK tech support and asked for you:
<<A customer in the UK asked about his CE153DR/05 car stereo. We can't find anywhere in the manual about how to adjust the brightness settings for the display
Olga: OK. Let me check the answer for you, but probably, as it is not in manual, it is not possible tochange it, but let me check.
Farle: ok
Olga: Unfortunately, it is not possible.
Farle: hm... ok. He says it is almost impossible to read when the sun is shining
Farle: thanks for the help>>

You can reach UK chat at the support site>>Connect
The Chat Now function is on the right, down about midpage.
