View Full Version : Noisy blue ray,
Hi,
I have bought a blue ray bdp 7500 MKII the annoying thing is that it is noisy when playing a film, a kind of high sound. In your opinion is it normal ? the noise is really annoying during the movie.

Hi,
maybe it is the sound from the spinning of the BD? If yes, is the noise present with every BD? Or just one?

hello Toengel, with a dvd the sound is more discrete. Unfortunately I only have one blu ray disc so I can not compare. The shrill sound is very present and close the drawer to the back of the player. is a high-pitched whistle.

Tricky Philips gives a FAQ:
Question
Why is there a noise when a blu-ray disc is played?
Answer
When a blu-ray disc is being played, there may be operating noise from disc tracking and focusing. The noise level depends on the bit rate and reflectivity of the disc, and hence the spinning speed of the disc in the player. For blu-ray disc, the noise may be higher than that of DVD disc.
This noise is normal if there is no abruption of video or audio output.
In case there is abnormal playback noise accompanied by abruption of video playback, eject the disc and check if it is scratched or dirty.
It likes "safety" statement, but also seems logical :p
