View Full Version : Philips Fidelio DS8550 turns off unexpectedly (and randomly)

Hi,

I'm very happy with my sound dock except for this issue. I've been googling around but I can't find a lot of people experiencing the same issue, except for this one, though another model:

Mine can run flawlessly for hours, and sometimes (like just now, thus me registering and posting) it turns off after just a few seconds, with no pattern at all. I tried unplugging the power supply and running it on just batteries, and had the same issue (the battery is fine though).

Is this a known issue? Is there something wrong inside of the unit?

hi croon, welcome to the forum! :) this seems very random as your device can play for hours with no problem at all. If you want to make sure, I would take it to your local service and have it checked if the the connections are alright.

Yeah, I did, but it cost all to much just to diagnose. To the point where it's (almost) as cheap just getting a new one. A shame since it otherwise works fine.

These units are absolutely terrible in terms of reliability, I have now just had to send my third unit away as the onboard battery doesn't charge. The previous one had the same issue and also the connector developed a fault so the iPad wouldn't play music through it or charge.

It's such a shame as the unit itself has superb sound but the internal build quality seems awful.

I had almost exactly the same issue as you with my original unit except that it turned itself ON randomly so you'd suddenly have music blasting out at 3am!

hey there, if that s the case, after exchanging 3 units the same issue, then i think you better see if the service centre can exchange another model in the same series to you.

this is purely determined by your country consumer care though. but worth have a try!
