hi Toengel,I try to rename it to mkv,but it still could not display on the screen,at last I found when I rename it to mpeg,it could read on the machine.but the subtitle still a problem,no subtitile option display when the movie play and another problem it can't stop with the pause key on the remote controll when the movie play some time ,one way could shut it down-- turn off the power.:)

Hello Weijoin,

I think there are few issues you have encountered:
1.Your PC DLNA server can present the TS files to the BDP5100 (which is good),
2.The BDP5100 will filter out the TS files when reading the media files from USB storage device (not good),
3.The BDP5100 will recognized TS files renamed with different extensions like MKV as valid media files,
4.The subtitles are missing when playback TS files in BDP5100 (either from DLNA server or from renamed TS files),
5.When playback the renamed TS files, the "pause" function does not work.

The item 4 could be the media file problem: please check the media file using a PC based
media playback software to see if there is indeed subtitles embedded in the file, or use a
tool named MediaInfo to see if there is TEXT (subtitles) inside the file.

There could be also a problem in the BDP5100 that the embedded subtiles may not be supported.
Usually what I will do is to transcode (repackage) the TS files into other popular formats
like MKV to see if the BDP5100 can recognize the subtitle in a different container format.

The item 5 looks like a real problem in BDP5100.

hi,James Bell, today more and more 1080p movie use BD remux format to *.TS,and AS we known, the mkv lost some detail when you see it use a projector or a 52 LCD,on the other hand every time to change the TS to mkv is an tedious work.so if philips engineer could do sth with it or correct it,that would be appreciated。BTW:I check the ts file it's sound good.so the subtitiles problem -----have any other way to do with it?
