redifine remote control keys usage

Hello,

Everybody here will agree that remote control usage is a TOTAL FAIL.

Let us build our idea of what is a good usage of the remote control.

Make the TV read a setup text file, one time, on usb key, describing the remote usage
with lines like that :

CONTEXT, KEY, ACTION
watching, key-RED, select-hdmi1-entry
watching, key-GREEN, select-tv-entry
watching, key-OK, user-defined-menu1

user-defined-menu1:=this and this and this action

Then make the most downloaded 'setup' the default in future tv.

FYI, my old telephon lets me reassign shortcut keys.... since 10 years, yes yes ;-)

Why do you think that? Your post does not say that.

I think for the most users of a TV it will be to difficoult to write a text file like this.

BTW: I do not agree that the remote control is a total fail. I have had a look at a lot of TVs before I bought my philips and there are a lot of reasons why I have made my decicion for a philips tv and I will do this again even I have found several bugs.
But this is also the reason, why I give my input to this forum - in order make things better and better.

How many clicks to switch from a source to another ?
Text file is the result thing that the TV eat.
You can imagine a beautifull application with a image of the RC and you click it to select association.
Or a spreadsheat with less gadget.
Million a programs can be writed. The key point is make the TV software smart enougt to accept such a feature !
