1. HDMI sound problems: not fixed. sound drops occur (at least) in the following setup:
Blu-ray(Panasonic) OR Satellite Receiver(Technisat) - HDMI - 42PFL7696K02 - Toslink - PioneerAVR
Obviously the Philips TV does not pass through HDMI sound signals properly.

2. HDMI-CEC: Technisat can control the Philips but not vice versa. It would be nice, if the Philips could switch the channels at least.

When I mark my analogue presets from 1 to 30 as favourites, then after a while (1 or 2 days), the favourites mark (star) is gone. Other favourites (digital presets 101 to 110) are preserved. When using the TV, I always display the list of the favourites.
This is also a problem in the previous firmware.

I'm wondering what the difference between the 6606K and T is. I don't experience any sound drop issues anymore since my 52PFL5605H was replaced with a 55PFL6606K/02.

Hi,

Toengel@Alex

I know but what's the difference that makes the K model work and the T model have dropouts? Is it an additional piece of hardware that "fixes" the audio stream or a different piece of hardware that doesn't have the audio dropout bug?

There's obviously a difference between 6xx6K and 6xx6T/7xx6H/K/M/T series or why are there two different firmware threads?

Toengel
09-11-2011, 03:04 PM
Hi,

there shouldn't be two threads...

At the beginning of the 2011 TV series the TVs had different firmware software versions. But in the meantime they all have the same...

At the moment
- firmware 10.105 for 6xx6 and 7xx6 models (H,K,M,T)
- firmware 14.38.6 for 8xx6 and 9xx6 and 21:9 models (H,K,M,T)

Same here with my 55PFL7606K. I have 3 Analogue stations markes as Favorite. Every 2-3 days, these 3 loose their favorite flag!

Hi,

Posted this also in thread of an older firmware. The problems as reported here are with the 0.10.105.0 FW.

I am experiencing many sound drops when using TV audio over HDMI ARC to a Marantz SR7005. Similar issues are reported many times before. It looks like it is solved for the xxx5 2010 line by a FW upgrade in april. So why do I have to sound drops on my new 42PDL7906?

Some additional information:
Sound drop occurs on DVB-C channels having audio in AC-3. (The ZIGGO HD channels mostly)
Sound drops do not occur (at least not observed) on DVB-C channels having audio in MPEG-1 layer2 (mp2) (The ZIGGO SD channels)

frequency of drops on HD channels is around 1 drop per 1-3 seconds.
No drops when audio is routed to the TV speakers.

Philips: Please get this solved in FW asap or give me any other advice to get this sorted out.

PS: Also the HDMI switching - no sound (or often distorted sound) problem bugs me!

Hi,

Can I use firmware 10.105 previouly released for 7656H and apply it on a 7676H ?
I ask this question because 7676H is not yet registered in Philips database.

Just bought the 47PFL7666T/12 yesterday, man was I dissapointed, mainly because:
No 3d over net/usb
Most mkv's not supported.
Crappy/slow menu's

Does Philips have any plans to fix this ???

Hi all,

I've bought the TV 47PFL7606M/08 recently and the main issue are all sw problem.
I've also created a Thread on an external forum (http://www.avmagazine.it/forum/showthread.php?t=198654) to discuss about the sw problem of this TV and I have to report that all the other people agree with the fact that they will not buy this tv if the known problems will not be fixed with a firmware update.

The following sw issue or limitation are not acceptable on such a TV:

- Not possible to play 3D files over USB
- Not possible to play 3D files from youtube/net tv
- Not possible to manage the second audio track on an mkv file
- Not possible to read subtitles (mkv or external like .srt or .sub). This is simply ridiculous, all other brand support subtitles.
- Most mkv's are not supported.
- Poor support for multimedia files, please improve it.

Nice to have:
- Not possible to play a movie from the point where it has been stopped (e.g. you are watching a movie, then you stop the movie or you can even switch off the tv but then when you play it again the sw will allow you to start from the point where you had stopped).
- Info about the channel you are watching without completly obscure the TV channel. With the current sw if you want to see the info about the channel you are watching (e.g. title, year, actors, etc...) you press the button and the movie is obscured, you continue to hear only the audio. Many other TV supplier create a small window at the top of the TV and if you need more info you can enlarge it pressing a button.

USB keyboard and USB mouse are not recogniced by the TV (42PFL7656K) with firmware 10.105. What type of keyboards and mouses are planned to support? I'd like to buy a wireless keyboard with integrated mouse like "Tastatur KeySonic KSK-3200 RF". Will it be work with this keyboard and mouse? Is ist possible to extend the number of USB connectors of the TV by a USB-hub? In my case I have attached the wireless USB PTA01, a USB memory stick and need to connect a wireless keyboard. But the unit has only two USB ports.

you should be able to use a usb hub (external power might be necessary).

The USB keyboard / mouse need to be USB HID compliant...

Do you guys get sound drops over HDMI and S/PDIF? I had the exact same problem with my older 5605 and an Onkyo 708 but it works fine now with the 6606.
Is this problem related to CEC? The old TV didn't work but the new one does.

Hi,

FW v0.10.105.0 is STILL not available in ITALY for 47PFL7606M/08
Why???

All the other countries have received the new firmware except italy.
Please clarify.

In addition, there is not DTS support for mkv files and this is definetly not acceptable on such an expensive TV.

Hi,

I have a 42PFL7666K/02 an my Audio Problems over optical Output are still there.
The menu is a little bit faster.

And one thing:
I cannot understand why the menu is reacting so slowly?!?!?
Who is programming this source code?
Or why donīt you use a faster CPU?
This speed looks like from the 1990 years of my C64!
Mayby use a simpler graphic but make it faster.
At the moment philips is disgracing themself!

First two weeks after buying this 32PFL7606H were great. After that sound drops, pictures freezes for 1 of 2 seconds, screen goes black and comes back again fully working.
Anyone else experiencing the same issues ? Latest software-versions installed, directly after installing the set.

Hallo ,

I just bought the 42PFL7606H tv.

I have a question because there is some clouding present in the upper left corner of the screen.

Is this normal and acceptable and is there any solution to get rid or minimise the backlight bleeding?

How is Philips reacting to these complaints?

I would appreciate any info to solve this issue, many thanks.

Hello,

yesterday I installed Version: 000.014.076.000 on my 42PFL7666K/02.
The Audio dropouts are still there.
RTL HD and RTL2 HD are the worst.
PRO7 HD worked yesterday fine, but if I try to change something in the
menu I get dropouts. For example, I tried to change the Smart TV settings.
After change from Standard to Film, i get a droptout. And so on.
If I change from Film to Spiel, I get another dropout.

What causes this problem????

Hi,

not being able to play 3D over USB is really disappointing.
I have wireless keyboard (Logitech dinovo edge) and it doesn't seem to be possible to connect to the tv. Do you have to use a wired keyboard?
Those two missing features are the biggest problems for me with this firmware.
The sound disappeared sometime going from NetTV to watching tv and I also managed to make the firmware crash, dont remember how.

Any date set for when 14.x firmware is coming to T models?
I have a 47PFL7606T/12.

32pfl6606h here

having the following problems:

- scart connection signal dies for a few seconds (black screen) then returns

- random shutdown after a few minutes of turning it on

- subtitles out of sync (synchronized on PC) through USB

- problems with scaling sub 720p files (from 1280x544p to 1280x660p) picture gets stretched correctly horizontally but gets stretched vertically to fill the rest of the screen on any zoom mode

- 1080p mkv files have frame freezes/skip

Things I would like to see implemented

- subtitles displayed properly without that black bar none sense, select size of text

- support subtitle streams inside mkv, TS and mp4 files such as srt, ass, sub etc

- support dts, flac, vorbis and ogg

- increase cabac/ref frame number on h264 files from 8 to 13

- faster menu speed

The TVs IQ is very good for the price but the software of this TV is abismal, Philips is renowned for being a excellent TV brand but this is extremely poor/unacceptable...

New software downloaded in November and was able to get the UK BBCi application to work.

I seem to have full functionality but when I choose to download a TV programme i get a message about no server available.

Re registered on Philips, switched off/on but still the same. Tried some other Apps and they seem OK.

Looks like a BBC issue but I may be wrong.

So far I am really pleased with the TV. Can stop/start progs usin USB stick but Freeview program guide does not seem to offer recording.

Hello bojo,
I tried the online update prog on the tv but got message it was up to date. so I tried the USB memory stick method.

Went to software update on the tv then plugged memory stick into TV.

This puts a file onto memory stick with details of telly.

Then plugged it into my pc and within seconds got a screen inviting me to download file. Downloaded (2 minutes) Transfered download to stick then unzipped it. Safely removed stick and poked it into usb socket on telly. TV found update files and 2 minutes later was invited to switch off and on again.

Working fine now. Only issue is I cant set timer on Freeview prog guide as Philips have probably not sorted yet.

I have 8g SD card fitted and 500g usb portable hard disk with power supply connected. TV changed disk to Ubuntu.

Hope this helps

In the update notes it says ( Improved connectivity to improve compatibility with other external devices ) . I can`nt see any impovments I still can not set the sound to play on HTS or TV still get message Failed TV sound active . So all this software has done is get BBC iPlayer working . Is there any way of finding out if Philips know about these issues and they are doing something about them? I can put up with muting the TV sound when I want the sound on the HTS , but the sound dropouts are very hard to ignore and I have to decide if I`m going to keep this set very soon .

Hi, please notice that it is really annoying the fact that everytime a 3D content is played it is necessary to set 3D manually.
This is more frustrating if you see a movie from youtube in 3D because usually are short movies where you change frequently.

Would it possible to have a feature to automatically set 3D on if the content (usb stick or NetTV) is 3D?
Alternatively an automatic message to ask if you want to set the 3D on would be ok.

I agree, it is not an EPG in its current format. Is is what is now. Not a guide you can use whilst watching.

SAmsung and Toshiba and budget brands have better EPG's.

I would like an estimate or promise of this feature before I buy another Philips.
