see supported codecs and file extensions: http://www.supportforum.philips.com/en/showthread.php?1067-Supported-CODEC-overview-for-ALL-models-(TV-HTS-and-Blu-ray)
Thanks for your reply. If the codes were not supported, any solution for this?
Normally the mkv format file for 2010 and 2011 are no problem to play. Only file for 2008 and 2009.

if you have files with unsupported codecs you can either recode the files or you can take a look at the Philips Home Media Player (HMP3000 or HMP5000).

before you reencode all your MKVs and spend hours over hours, please check some things.
Demux your MKVs using MKVTOOLNIX. Have a look at the h.264 stream and which Profile and Level has been used during encoding. Main 4.0 streams will not run on your hardware. You can use a Level Editor to change the profile and level to High 4.0 or High 4.1. These profiles should run on your hardware.
Make sure the audio streams are supported by your hardware.
Remux your MKVs, but make sure you disable the header compression. Files with header compression will not be played. If you have subtitles in vobsub format (idx/sub) make sure you disable the zlib-compression. Use no compression for the subtitles, otherwise the file can not be played. idx/subs will not work in any way, so just don't mux them into the mkv.
Hopefully this will safe you some time.
I had tried used mkvtoolnix 4.1, 4.0 and 3.2 to remux my MKV file but still not work.
I will check the codec and try.
Any software to recode the video code?
I had try using MKVtolnix 3.3., 4.0, 4.2 and 4.9 to remux my mkv file that I unable to play but still doesn't work. I have a lot of mkv file can play with same video code : MPEG4/ISO/AVC but don't know why some file download at year 2008 and 2009 cannot play.
I don't want to buy other Media player since my hts don't have optical or coxial input...so to listen 5.1 DTS sound only can use my HTS set.
Any other idea about this?

you need to take a look at the profiles (2010 HTS models):
H.264/AVC Main Profile @ Level 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 are supported
H.264/AVC High Profile @ Level 4.0 and 4.1 are supported
thanks Toengel, I found the problem here....
The H.264 that unsupported were Level 5.1, I had use software uncropMKV, the issue solved.
