you tried repair ? make sure it s fully charged so that you can turn on?

the step is advise to be reset> format> repair...
repair should be able to rectify things and it's not likely to hv the wrong FW as it wont run when it detects you hv the wrong device...

Charge the player for at least one hour before trying to repair as it needs power to connect and repair. Open songbird before connecting your MP4 player holding down the Volume + key when connecting. Follow these instructions to repair the device through songbird:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/cpindex.pl?refnr=0073274&ctn=SA3MUS16S%2F02&dct=FAQ&scy=gb&slg=ENG&session=20111003043711_85.90.232.145&searchtext=repair

Repairing your player through songbird will install important system files and firmware updates needed for your player.

i bought it from Korea, a Asian country. and i paid 80 bucks for transportation.
i worked part-time to get this item. i am a student.

i plugged it into songbird, and updated my firmware.
Muse was brand-new, never even touched before, arrived two-days ago.

it died and i tried everything, everything in reply. i've got nothing left to do.

what do i do?

You are not alone in this problem, myself and a couple others are experiencing this as well. Still no viable solution has been offered, as far as I can tell. I just returned mine to Amazon and they are sending me a new one. I will be holding off on updating the firmware till i know that the problem has been adressed.

Hi Everyone,

Just to confirm the firmware update for the firmware v1.38 for your SA3MUS has now been released and has resolved the issues with this player.

For those who have players that will not turn on please follow these steps below:

1. Connect your player to your PC and let it charge for at least 3 hours as the battery may be flat and will need to charge for this time to turn on.

2. After charging for this time turn on the player and reset the player by holding down the small reset button with a pin for about 10-15 seconds (you will feel it click in hold it down until the player turns off and restarts).

3. Follow the repair instructions in the songbird version from the support page (Download version 2.5.4 for SA3MUS directly from the support page and uninstall any previous songbird versions).

Further information can be found in the related thread: Error when updating SA3MUS (http://www.supportforum.philips.com/en/showthread.php?2619-Error-when-updating-SA3MUS)

This has helped to resolve this problem for others experiencing this same issue when their player will not turn on, and should get your player working again. Let me know if you still need any further help with this!

Kind regards,
Cassandra

hi Cassandra,

I would like to have an equalizer, that i can change diferent frequencies. i don't like the mode that actually have it.

Hi gemelo,

I would always advise upgrading your player directly through songbird for the version of your player. This is available to download at the support page and is currently on version 2.5.4

Recently a new firmware version was released, if you are still having issues please repair and update your firmware through songbird. If this doesn't work to resolve the issue we can look into this further for you.

Great feedback about the equalizer, I will send your suggestions through to our development team they are always looking to hear feedback from our users.

Let me know how you get on after updating through songbird!

Kind regards,
Cassandra

[QUOTE=gemelo;14794]i used onother tool, RK28Upgrade v1.27, and the new firmware/QUOTE]
Thank you German! You are the man. This tool really help. It is a rude method but it does its job perfectly! The thing it that having it and having any firmware (use 7z until you get the .img file) you can solve any firmware-related problem!

Edit: I have received a question on how to use RK28Upgrade. When I downloaded it, I did not know how to use it. I selected the image in the image path field and clicked "Upgrade", thats all. It wrote the image (about 70-100 MB) to the bricked device.

Edit: Vasicek, enable private messaging from members in your profile. I am not able to send you a PM.

But I don't know, which image file shoul'd I select? Shoul'd it be the firmware? - I dont't know, where to download it...:(

You shoul'd be able to send me a message now, I hope.

If privata messaging is still not working, please write email.

EDIT: OMG, it works, yes!!! I choose firmware from folder Program files - Philips and it works. If anybody want to help, send me an email.

EDIT 2.:I repaired my device, but firmware version is 1.0 and when I was trying to update my firmware via Songbird 2.5.4, there was error again, and my sa3mus was bricked again. So I'm asking, if there is any option to download the newest version of firmware itself, because I will be able to update my device via RK28Upgrade v1.27 than.

Thank you very much. :)

I repaired my device, but firmware version is 1.0
I do not know what is your opinion on this fact, but once I got my device back to life I decided not even try to update it anymore. I do not want to wait 1 month for a replacement.

Hi Cassandra, I did the 2.5.6 upgrade using my gogear muse, has died. You charge the battery, press reset for 10 seconds, remove and reinstall the 2.5.4 and nothing. It does not recognize in any way to connect to Gogear pc. RK28USB not appear connected devices. Use windows 7 32-bit. Address and telephone technical service in lima peru?

My sonīs SA3MU8 is dead too and he is now very sad.:(
I tried absolutely all solution from this forum and nothing. I use Win 7-32 and Win XP on my laptop.
Install SB 2.5.4, use the 10 second trick, uninstall again and nothing.
Really amazes me how a company can issue such a software.
Have someone any reflashing repairing tool without use this stupid SongBird?
And mainly pure .bin source for firmware updating like for example Cowon etc.??

Dear Philps!

My problem is just the same as others.
Bought my brand new Muse 16Gb, and used without any problem until the firmware update performed with the downloaded but not updated Songbird.
The player fully dead, can not switch on (it was charged to 70% when it was collapsed), if it is attached to the computer no singns of charging, or anything... Windows detecting the device as RK28USB.

I tried to reset it with a pin as read in this and other relating topics, deleted and fully installed the latest Songbird, but it always seems the same. The repair method in SB is aborted with an error message. I read the relating topics and tried everything without any result.

please help!

this will surely help all of us.

google&dowload yourself for "RK28Upgrade V1.27 and Drivers"
1-st hit www.bergfiles.com/i/bf4e1e774fhfi0

follow the instructions given in ebookfirmwareupgrade.jpg, 3 steps that's all.

the RK28.img image file (mentioed in step 1), may already be on your PC in my case I found it here (Windows 7)
C:\program files\philips\Philips Songbird Resources/Firmware/SA2MUS.zip

unzip all, and rk28.img (approx. 70 Mbytes file) appears as the firmware-image you need to flash onto your muse...
