There is an official test suite of mkv files on the matroska homepage available (http://www.matroska.org/downloads/test_w1.html). Those eight files are intended to test a set of minimum features players should handle.

Perhaps the Philips developers should consider to improve the firmware in future versions to correctly handle those test files. Results I've got with my player are shown below.

Just an idea.

Results of using the Matroska Test Suite (http://www.matroska.org/downloads/test_w1.html) (BDP7600, firmware version 1.09)

test1.mkv (test scenario: Basic file)
Sound OK. No video because of unsupported video format. FF up to 4x. No rewind. Chapters and time search OK.

test2.mkv (test scenario: Non default timecodescale & aspect ratio)
Video much too slowly (super super super slow motion...).

test3.mkv (test scenario: Header stripping & standard block)
Firmware seems to crash (nothing happens after selecting file, no more reaction to pressing keys neither on remote nor on player).

test4.mkv (test scenario: Live stream recording)
Players stops immediately (unsupported video format).

test5.mkv (test scenario: Multiple audio/subtitles)
Sound and video OK. FF and rewind up to 32x. Chapters and time search OK.

test6.mkv (test scenario: Different EBML head sizes & cue-less seeking)
Sound OK. No video because of unsupported video format. FF up to 4x. No rewind. No chapters. No time search.

test7.mkv (test scenario: Extra unknown/junk elements & damaged)
Player stops immediately.

test8.mkv (test scenario: Audio gap)
Sound and video OK. FF and rewind up to 32x. Chapters and time search OK.

Hi,

this is a good idea... maybe Philips could take this into account...
