I downloaded it from this link:
Please see the link below to download the unzipped file:

I downloaded the file but I can't see that it is, it doesn't mean that it is a valid file. but i just can't see, you need the original good file to compare it with.

I just hope that the Servers in the data center will soon be repaired...

hi Dr Soidberg,

so when you docked your iphone with iOS5 to the DCM580, you can see the version upgraded v45?
If that's it, I think you have already done the upgrade.
If that's still a version before v45, then I guess you have to do it again...

Making sure that's the genuine file is important. As it is announced in the forum home page that, Philips is now having a server system issue... It's also mentioned by Cassandra here. I guess to make sure you have the right file, ask Cassandra to send you that directly...

Hi all,

this thread is getting longer and longer and now it's 18 pages. Can I take this chance to compile the problem we have here a bit.

Problem 1: No File error
Suggestion: 1) Get the right file from Andrea or Cassandra to avoid the wrong file issue
2) Format the USB stick you have
3) Do not put any files other than the .MCS file in the USB
4) Try again the upgrade
5) If not ok, please note down the serial number that you have
(maybe it's a patchwise problem)

Problem 2: Upgraded to v.45, but still not work
Suggestion: 1)verify if the firmware is already the v45
2)if it's already v45, try rebooting your iphone/ipod
3)still not ok, advise the serial number of your device

Problem 3: MAC user - formatting problem
Suggestion 1) Ask your friend to format the USB by a Windows PC and drag the FW file in
(without further plugging in to your MAC)
2) or Try the programme Toengel has suggested - FinderCleaner to clean up
the hidden files in your USB device
3) Try the upgrade procedure
4) If not OK, please advise the serial number of your device.

Hope by this we can summarize this a bit...

Hi all,

If you are still having trouble downloading and completing the software upgrade, other users are finding that REFORMATTING your USB stick first is working. Alternatively, you can try another USB key ensuring there are no hidden files left on there.

Please PM me if you need the unzipped software so we can send this to you (as it is currently not working on the website).

Kind regards,

Andrea

Hi,

from the main page of the forum:

MAINTENANCE / CHANGES / ANOUNCEMENTS:
09-Nov-'11: Most reported web content problems are solved, except downloaded ZIP files (e.g. SW upgrades) still seems to be corrupted. You will get the message "Cannot open file: it does not appear ...." when unzipping.
Until a final solution will be available, there are two known workarounds (tested on MS Windows):
1. Download the ZIP file with Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome and unzip normally.
2. Download the ZIP file with MS IE -> rename .zip file to .rar -> extract file with WinRar -> rename extracted file again to .zip -> extract with WinZip.
We regret the situation, and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this. The IT-team is working hard to solve it.

Kind regards,
Philips Moderation Team

Thanks to Andrea and all concerned.

Problem 3: MAC user - formatting problem
Suggestion 1) Ask your friend to format the USB by a Windows PC and drag the FW file in
(without further plugging in to your MAC)
2) or Try the programme Toengel has suggested - FinderCleaner to clean up
the hidden files in your USB device
3) Try the upgrade procedure
4) If not OK, please advise the serial number of your device.

Thanks for summarizing kwinnie. I tried the FinderCleaner –*it did not work. I even tried a usb from a windows user friend –*still NO FILE on the DMC580 display. I am giving up, give the device away. Anyone near Zurich who wants it?

Hi all,

I appologize, I'm french and my english is not so good.

I had the same problem as everybody, first "no file" when I tried to update the firmware with IE. Then I've downloaded it with Mozilla, and it works. But There is a new problem. When I'm listening music with my iPhone IOS5, sometimes there is some "crackling". I'm not sure that te word is exact, and i've never had this problem before. Please, does somebody can help me ?

Thank you.

If any body speaks french, I describe the problem in french:

I had some hope that the ios update from Apple would solve the problem. It did not do the trick.
I am frustrated about the whole story. Why does it take so much time to solve the Philips download problem? Why is the file published as a zipped file? Why no solution for Mac users? Why so little 'explanation about the background of the problems?

Hi Artek1,

Sorry to hear you are still having a few issues with this.

Unfortunately we cannot provide an update regarding the Mac issue as we are still looking into this, please rest assured that we will provide an update when we have an answer.

To answer your question regarding Zip folders, the reason we provide our updates in this format is because the compressed file is smaller and therefore quicker to download. This is especially useful to users with slower connections.

As most computers now include the ability to extract Zip folders without additional software it should work in the majority of cases but we do apologise if you are experiencing any issues and we will do our best to help in these instances.

I have provided some further help in a private message to prevent this thread getting too long so I would kindly ask you to check your inbox.

Kind regards,

New IOS updates will come after IOS5. IOS5.0.1, 5.0.2, 5.1 and even 6.0

Do we dare to upgrade? How do we know it will work with DCM580?
Will Philips make new firmwares in the future if IOS no longer support DCM580?

I have the same compatibility isssue between my dcm 580 and my ipod touch with IOS5.

dcm580 specs mentions that the device is compatible with ipod Touch. Nothing about os version. So I'm going to bring my tower back to the shop where I purchased it (Van den Borre Belgium). I bought the tower in early november 2011. It is increadible that these devices are still on sales while the issue is known for a while. What is philips doing ??? Bad for the image. Hello !

The sound tower is ok with the IOS 5.0.1 thanks to the firmware v45, you can try to change your usb key, she sould be without file and formated in fat32. I've tried with one : failed, with other one : succes
I insert the key with just the file unzipped, then i've select the usb source, then the sound tower said : uploading, then DONE, then I reboot the sound tower, then I put my iphone and perfect !
!
Many thank for the philips support (Cassandra and Andrea)

Hi,

My usb key is a 8go, I've clear every file and formate it in FAT 32 then I copy and past this file that Andrea sent me (it's the firmware v45 : https://www.yousendit.com/dl?phi_action=app/orchestrateDownload&rurl=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.yousendit.com%252Ftra nsfer.php%253Faction%253Dbatch_download%2526batch_ id%253DT2dkM25DZ2dFc0pqQTlVag

then I put the key into the sound tower, choose the USB source and the upload was ok, I've tried A LOT of time since 2 week ago, and the tower said always NO FILE it made me crazy i promisse ! I believe that the pb was about the zip. But yesterday perfect, no zip, juste drop and drag ! try with this file (link).

Good luck,
SLavigne

Hi everyone,

I am following these posts everyday as I was just about to buy the dcm580-12 before I found this forum. And thank god I did find this,as I have an iPhone 3GS with the new updated software and my iPhone wud not work on the tower,so wud be useless for my needs.I will look elsewhere unless Philips can resolve this issue in this product, and as a loyal Philips consumer who is also looking for a soundbar for a 47inch Philips ambilight LCD tv recently purchased,I will hold onto my money until the customer service is improved.Samsung seems to provide similar devices that would suit my requirements....

Well done on all posters here,ur highlighting issues to people and saving them from wasting money.

After updating to v45 I can use my iPod with v5.01. What happens though is that sometimes the music stops, as if volume is down to zero (even if it is not). This happens even when listening to the radio with no iPod docked. After power it off and on it starts playing again.

Is this the same problem as you other people are experiencing?

Andrea, is this the "volume problem" you are working on?

Hi PaolaLeva,

Sorry to hear about the problems you are having with iOS 5.01 and the volume.

I would like to take some further info about this please, such as how are you listening to music is it via the Philips Fidelio app for example?

You say you notice the difference when you are listening to the radio also? Is it a particular station?

I am glad that you have got everything working, after using the link we provided.

Unfortunately, there is no way we can guarantee that Apple's upgraded software will be fully compatible. However, we do aim to ensure compatibility where possible and if you are concerned about the effect of future Apple updates then I would suggest checking our forum or Apple's to see if other users have reported anything.

Hi Fabian,

There should not be any issues as the update will not affect any existing functionality, v45 firmware was designed to rectify issues reported by users with iOS5 software on their Apple device.

So, if your Apple devices are not running iOS 5 then it is not necessary to update the firmware as there were no further improvements.

I will PM you the unzipped software, in case you are using iOS5!

Kind regards,

Andrea

Hi all,

I did thinking a lot about the problems mentioned here.

I did come up with another idea, that maybe help.

If you try to format the USB stick with FAT(32), DON'T use the quick format option! Try to format the stick completely.

Maybe this helps!

I'm sorry to hear you are still having issues despite upgrading. There should not be an issue when running iOS 5.01 on your iPhone4 after upgrading your DCM580 software.

So, I would please suggest that you do a hard reset on your iPhone and make sure that there are no apps running in the background when docked.

I have kind of same problem as in the earlier posts. My DCM580 finds the update file from USB and starts to upgrade. But after upgrade when "DONE"- message appears to the display, my player goes "nuts". The "DONE" message stays on the display whatever I do... It's on the display even on the standby mode. Only way to get rid of this is to plug-out AC cord and put it back. After unplugging I can check the update from my player, and it says V45. BUT still... iPhone 3GS with latest iOS 5 dont work with the player.
Please help me.
Is there any other way to restart the system after upgrade than plugging off the cord?

Hi. After trying to update the DCM 580 for hours and trying absolutely everything I finally found out what was wrong. My laptop wrote a file to my usb stick, syncguid.dat. I could not remove it. If I deleted it, after a few seconds it was there again. On every usb stick i entered. I found out that there is a software called Syncables that was preinstalled on my ASUS laptop. It gererates the file on every usb stick I use. I uninstalled the software and I could delete the file syncguid.dat. Now the upgrade was successful and my Iphone 3GS works with the DCM 580 again. :)

Hello,

Unfortunatelly i did the iphone upgrade to 5.1.1 and the DCM 580 does not work anymore, the DCM580 is no more recognized by the iphone 4G IOS 5.1.1 so same issue than last year when i upgraded it to IOS 5.

I contacted the support but no feedback from them, i hope that i am not the only one and that the support is working on this issue.

I have read through absolutely everything on this forum, and I´m even more confused than ever. I bought my DCM580 today, and immediately I had problems getting my iPhone connected. As it appears, it´s Apple´s update iOS5 that causes these problems. From what I can read here, Philips has not yet been able to solve this problem for everyone. First of all - I use a mac. Would it be better then, if someone at Philips sent me the file on e-mail? Second - on the philips home page I cannot find this update/firmware. I have followed the link(s) these kind people have posted on this forum. I have found one link (old) that is supposed to appear as a large zip.file, but doesn´t. Then there is another link (more recent) that actually has the zipped file, and when I unzip it, it´s seems to be same file as before. I have tried having a friend unzipping it for me on a PC through Win, and mailing it to me (and i dragged it directly to my USB). Still, after all this - No file appears.

Is there a cure for this? I have spent the past 4 hours trying to solve this crap, and I´m getting tired of it. So, if there´s a chance that this could work, please mail me the right file and I will try to mount it to my USB. And yeah, I´ve made absolutely sure that my USB is formated without any hidden files. The format I use is MS-DOS (FAT) - is this correct? Mac user, Norway. Thanks everyone.

the firmware can be downloaded here: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?scy=GB&slg=ENG&sct=DOCKING_SPEAKERS_IPHONE_IPOD_SU&cat=AUDIO_PRODUCTS_CA&session=20120725040550_63.216.59.225&grp=SOUND_AND_VISION_GR&ctn=DCM580/05&mid=Link_Software&hlt=Link_Software . Version 45 is the right one.

Since you said you are using a MAC, there maybe some issue with USB drive formatting. (As it requires the USB has absolutely nothing inside but the firmware file). This is the experience from all the MAC users here that this doesnt work. If you have a PC, maybe you can try using that.

If this doesnt work, you can call your local support to ask them to send you a small USB drive with the firmware in it. Hope this helps.

Hi

Thanks for your post,
Exactly my case, and idem for any Asus user. I saw that file & did not manage deleting it. Having uninstalled the syncable program, it worked so well !
A big pleasure after so many hours of "no file" answers

Hi,
Is it already known if it is 'safe' to upgrade the DCM580 to ios6 ?
Or should DCM580 users wait for the next firmware update by Philips?
Publishing that information for DC580 users would be helpful and avoid new frustration.

Yes I did. iOS 6 does not need further upgrades. It works.

Hi, can you send me the update as well? I have thought for the last year that my Ipod and Iphone were the problem, but after reading this I understand an update will solve my issues after upgrading to IOS5 (and IOS6 since)

Many thanks in advance,

regards, Selwyn

Hi Selwyn

You can find the program on the Philips official site for support : http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=DCM580/12&slg=fr&scy=FR
(French site, but of course does not change the file). Upgrade 12 is OK, it works for iOS 5 AND ios 6.

Make sure there is absolutely no other file in the USB key, it would not work. (some PC manufacturers such as ASUS adds some features which automatically adds a file, see my previpus post)
