Hello guys,
I recently got 37PFL7606H and currently using TVersity for DLNA streaming. It works very good and very easy to use except 1 annoying problem - i cant fast forward any video format, hence my question - can u plz advise me a good media server that supporting FF or help me figure out the issue with TVersity.
Btw i FFing via usb works just fine and i tried wot stream via WMP12 and it can FF too but has the known downsizes (like not supporting MKV stream and in general imo not comfortable to usage). I read on forums that for being able to FF via media server the device must be recognized by the m.server as DLNA and not just upnp ... sadly i cant find any kind of specs in TVersity configs about that, on my tv it jsut says "Device".
Will appreciate any help

your right, to be able to use FFw or Rewind, the Server has to recognize the TV as DLNA Client.
Most of the Servers are in fact both, UPnP and DLNA Servers, means that if something is going wrong in Detection, even if (like in this Case) the Client is DLNA certified, you will only get UPnP support by the Server, which means that only basic features are available.

For Tversity i know that there is a xml file containing all the Profiles but i dont know where or what to change

Hi Jenia,

I dont' know any DMS for PC(free) which can do this. You can try with Wild Media Server (30 day -trial) which has many features, subtitles support, different audio tracks, etc...

Jenia, to have fast forward etc you only need to have a Server which is DLNA certified and detects the TV as DLNA client.
Twonky does that, however it might be possible to change the profile which is used inside twonky.

Tnx for advices guys. I tried both Twonky and Mezzmo and sadly failed to make it fast forwarding with both. In Twonky there was only and option of "PHILIPS TV" as a device and even though i tried to switch to some other device types i failed to make it FF (streaming worked fine). Now installed Mezzmo and it actually getting the accurate series of the TV - Philips 7000 , which supposed to be recognized as DLNA supporting model (well.. caz it is :) ) but sadly still cant FF. Any advice ?

Edit: Ok i now uninstalled Tversity and now i can FF only very few files on Mezzmo. As far i can tell that some of mkv files can be FFed and non of avi/divx .... I'm a bit confused to be honest.

HI Jena
i think you stream wired and not wiredless and your router is set to UPNP.
For mezzmo look in to the option, and unchecked the options of transcoding if it's checked.
that 's the only thing i see for the moment

I have a 40PFL8605H/12, mezzmo installed on an old windows xp pc a pentium IV HT, some avi files and mkv files 1080 P, stored on a usb2 external disk connected to my old pc and i read and ff or rwd perfectly those files , excepted dts files, through my gigabit wired network.
For the dts files i read them with my HTS9140 witch is also wired connected to my network and if course my tv.

hope it will help

ok 1st off all tnx for the help :)
made some progress tnx to ur tips : offed the transcoding (which i think had no effect) but after I turned off "Enable plug and play" option on my router (and yes btw tv is wired to router and not wireless) i can FF now ALL mkv!
But ... weirdly enough i cant FF ANY of avi files i have. It's much less important since its mainly tv shows with short episodes and importance of FF is more on the mkv movies but it still bit annoying and to be honest I'm now just curious about what can be the problem. If anything I'd expect it to be the other way and to have problems with mkv FF.
Any ideas plz ?

Errors in the standard chosen profile in twonky is a main cause of not being able to FF and RW. Is you use e.g. the Panasonic Viera profile things work much better than e.g. the Philips Streamium AV or Philips Rendered profile. The only setback is that not all Avi files are played using the Panasonic Profile.
