I just want you to know that tomorrow I will return my 40PFL6606D. Luckily the store where I bought the LCD has a return policy if the customer is not satisfied, and I'm not.
It's incredible that an LED LCD of 2011 does not have support for subtitles, and not only that, but on the product page says "Our TV's do not support the use of external subtitles When you watch movies from a USB memory device. NOTE: There Will be available no software upgrade in the future to support the external subtitle feature."
In this forum I read countless customer requests about this, with no response to them, this is how Philips values its customers? Philips wants us to trust in your brand for future purchases ignoring our request?
Did not the costumers even deserve a clear explanation of why Philips does not provide such a basic function that all the other brands offer?
So, no subtitles? , even in the future with a firmware update? Ok, there will not be Philips 40PFL6606D for me, and it will be a Samsung 40 D5550 thanks its ability to read subtitles and frecuent Firmware updates. Thanks Philips for not listening to its customers, I will not trust in your brand anymore.
PS: The store clerk did not know that the Philips did not read the subtitles from MKV, it is something that he will take into account when advice buyers
