Dear Philips,

i have a Problem with some 3d content. Not all content is created in the right way and so the Sites were change.

Some Brands have a function to correct this Problem and can change Left/Right to Right/ Left. (I think LG and Samsung have this Feature).
But i prefere Tv's from Philips but i already miss this function.

Know Philips this Problem?
And is there a plan to update the 3d Models with a new function
•Side-by-Side (Left/Right)
•Side-by-Side (Right/Left)
in the 3d menu?

Best Regards

Hi,

I think all series which have the 2D to 3D conversion feature, have these options. As you can see on the images in this blog post: http://58pfl9955.wordpress.com/2011/08/26/philips-mehr-3d-optionen-in-2011er-tv-serien/

It would be really nice to have this option in all series and also in 2010 TV series.

Hi,

yes - you have a 2011 model - but your model does not have 2D to 3D conversion. And only these models (with 2D to 3D conversion) have these "change sides" options...

@ Toengel

@Philips
But I still have the question at Philips.

Is there a plan to update my Series 7606 Mdoel with a new function with an Firmware Upgrade
•Side-by-Side (Left/Right)
•Side-by-Side (Right/Left)
in the 3d menu?
Only this.

I think for a 3D TV is this missing Option realy a bug.

2D to 3D conversion is not required and is not a component of my wish.

Hi

there is no plan at the moment to have this feature on all 3D compatible TV's.
We do know that there is content available which has the wrong settings but as you wrote it already, it is the content which is wrong not the TV settings.
I am not saying that it will never come this this TV Series but there are no promises!

Hello Thomas,

thanks for your answer.

Please keep the idea in your Mind. And bring it to the firmware development prozess.

By a realisation you would make many Philips users & fans very happy and they can wear their polifilter glasses the right way round ;)

Hi,

2010 users also like to wear their active glasses the right way round :-)

Hello!

I have seen that several Philips TV-series already show this opportunity to select the 3D SBS whether it is left/right or right/left.

When will this feature be available for the 42PFL7656K?

I think this feature is essential for a TV that claims 3d compatibility especially as many OEM cheap TV's , have this feature.

As a 7606 user that has just received a refund for a set with dead pixels I was intending to buy a 7666. But will think again.

You don't always have control over the content so allowing the TV to swap left and right sides , seems logical,

How difficult is this if the logic is already in the 8 and 9 series???
We are not asking for 2d-3d conversion. Just the ability to swap L/R images

well, dont know but on blu rays it is set the right way so for blu rays you dont need that feature and if you rip a blu ray you can check the settings in your program yourself, i really dont see any conent where you dont have the control, okay there the rips shared via internet but honestly, you dont ask philips to support illegal file sharing... are you?

Download a 3d Trailer vom Youtube und you'll see that the sides are switched.
Or will you say all other TV-Brands support illegal file sharing with eye correction, come on dude?

We want a Feature that other Brands have as standard not more.

I totally agree with Fox. This feature is definitely a must. There are customer like me who paid more than 2k Euro for their TV (46PFL9705) and IMHO we can expect to get more than bugfixes with a firmware upgrade.

Kind regards,

IT is Youtube I use for watching a lot of HD.
Some great stuff on their. One of my favourites is underwater coral reefs, and fish. So real in 3D, great depth on the coral.

Contents aren't wrong. It's just a choice to begin with left eye or right eye.. The wrong is not to put an option abot swapping sides in the tv menu.. Just fix it and publish a new firmware asap ffs..

Hi,

sure it's a content problem. In side by side movies:

- the left part of the frame is for the left eye => left 3D frame
- the right part of the frame is for the right eye => right 3D frame

I am inclined to believe Toengel, can't really comment as I have no 3D blu rays, only use youtube so far and don't use cracked, converted blu ray disks on a usb stick.

Not sure if anyone out there can confirm all blu ray 3d titles / SKy 3d/ olympic or wimbledon 3D , are as reported and always display left/right the same way around. If so I can live with it.

The problem is that for a normal user, it is of no use to tell him "the video is wrong". The only option then is not to watch that content, or (at least as far as I can guess, what Philips definitely wouldn't want), to switch to another TV.

There is, at the moment, rather much content out there which has the "wrong" sides. It might be that the majority of such movies is from illegal sources; but lets put that discussion aside here please; I am not a lawyer, but I cannot imagine that anyone could accuse Philips of supporting copyright violation just by adding such an option; and there is legal content out there also having this problem; and to point at the video makers and saying "They are wrong", or "it's probably illegal anyway" doesn't help the customers at all.

Adding such an option should be cheap for Philips, and would make the Philips TV draw even with its competitors in that respect (because at least as far as I heard, most TVs of other big brands have such an option already); meaning it would improve customer satisfaction with little cost - what more could Philips hope for?
