View Full Version : eventual problems with mkv files on portable hard drive

Does anyone know if there are problems with viewing mkv files (even larger than 10 GB) using a portable hard drive (750gb-1tb) connected with the bdp 7600/12?
I ask you that beacuse I've never had an external hard drive and I want to buy a new one: so if there is any limitation (for exemple "1 tb hard drive" would be too large or it can be read by the player with no problems ? is better portable or desktop?),please tell me and i would be grateful to you..Thank you for the attention. regards

I don't know about the BDP. If NTFS works, this should theoretically work. Powering over USB might not work. If I were you, I'd order it over the internet, try it out and send it back if it doesn't work.

I have a smaller one connected to my BDP8000 and it works very good. Also there is posts about bigger HDD ( 1TB) and they work also :)

This is the thing that scares me more than all: I fear that 2,5 hard disk can't stand all that data stream that is a HD movie... then it's possible i'm wrong and 2,5hard disk works perfectly also with 20gb mkv files :)
I think I'm gonna buy a 3,5 hard disk, but I'm not so sure, I have not decided yet.
Other opinions are welcome.

Sorry did not really looked but what I can remember is that the only thing that some users said was about the access time to the HDD. I personally did not face any issues yet and have tried a 500Gb some days ago....loading was a bit more but after ti worked great
