221T1: Analog audio out - how?

I am having trouble getting analog audio out from a 221T1. There are not many alternatives, this is what I have tried:
- Connecting RCA leads to the AV Out connectors
- Using a SCART to RCA adaptor

I have had no success with either. My understanding of the settings in the set-up menu is admittedly rather limited. I'd be grateful for any help.
