Just brought this Tv and looking forward to catching up on BBC programmes whilst I have been at work. The app doesn't work on this Tv
Tried to load a programme and error message appears "cannot connect to server" etc. anyone got any ideas ? I have seen in last years forum post re iplayer BBC they were waiting for an update etc. surely Philips have got this in hand well before Xmas.

Any help would be good, or is the tv faulty ?

I am looking to buy a 46PFL9706T and having seen your post was concerned that BBC iPlayer, one of the most useful features of NET TV, was not available. I checked with Philips support and got the following message.

"You will need to ensure that the TV set has the latest version of the firmware installed on the set that will allow you to access the BBC iPlayer app. For this firmware update, please follow the link below to the firmware download page:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?scy=GB&slg=ENG&sct=9000_SERIES_FLAT_TV_SE&cat=TELEVISIONS_CA&session=20120217185655_172.29.20.234&grp=SOUND_AND_VISION_GR&ctn=46PFL9706T/12&mid=Link_Software&hlt=Link_Software

And please follow this link to the full instructions of how to perform the update:

So it looks like BBC iPlayer is available and working.

Hi andyp,

Wow all I can say is Philips have a fantastic service and tech team on-line and by phone.
Everyone I have contacted have been fantastic so far, this is why I brought Philips TV along with the Technology of course.

I have been in contact direct with Philips and they are helping my sort this app out. So if your looking to buy this TV go on and buy it you wont be disappointed its a TOP NOTCH TV ! I love it

Hi,

I have a similar problem with the same TV model, although I have installed the latest firmware Q5551_0.14.96.0 from March 2012.
I can see the programs offered to watch, but once I select the program to watch, I get a message I cannot connect to the server. :(

Any Idea?

You need to be in the UK to be able to use BBC-iPlayer, outside the UK the video's are blocked.

This is bad news. What a disappointment I cannot take a full advantage of my TV.

Would I be right in thinking that your iPlayer app has now stopped working again ( withing the last few days )?
