View Full Version : WOW-factor of 3D on my 42PFL7666 is less then on a philips TV in the shop.
I recently watched "Sammy's adventures and the secret passage 3D" on a philips 47PFL7606 passive 3D-TV and it looked amazing. The world created in the movie really came out of the TV (pop-out). I bought this bluray to watch it at home, but it doen't look as good as in the shop on my philips 42PFL7666 passive 3D-TV at home. The depth looks good, but the world that is created that should come out of the TV (pop-out) isn't that good on my TV. I can't focus onto the creatures that is created in the movie (Seahorses, etc.)
I use a philips BDP5200 blurayplayer. I tried all settings on TV and blurayplayer. I stood really closeby the TV in the shop and i am further apart from my TV in my livingroom. So it shouldn't be the distance. Can someone explain this? Or maybe philips? Will there be a improvement for this in the next firmware?
I saw that some philips 3DTV's have depth-control. Is this why 3D looked better on a other philips active 3DTV in the shop? And is the 42PFL7666 getting this feature in the next firmware too?

3D depth control is only Provided for Active 3D Sets.
@pip, try to set the TV to Dealer Mode and test again.
Thank you Thomas.
Do you mean shop-mode? I can find shop and home-mode? Not dealer mode.

That is not completly true. At least not in holland and also not in the united kingdom. See http://www.philips.co.uk/c/televisions/cinema-219-gold-series-127-cm-50-inch-ultra-wide-screen-easy-3d-50pfl7956t_12/prd/?t=specifications. I read
3D: Easy3D*, 2D to 3D conversion, 3D Depth adjustment, 2 Player Full Screen Gaming*.
And if i'm right easy 3D means that philips is using passive 3D. Just like mine TV and in the shop. That TV give me the wow- factor. Sadly enough my TV gives me only the OK-factor. Now i think about it... i think it was a 21:9 television like this one. This one is a 7000-serie 21:9.

the 21:9 Gold is the only 7000 series TV with 2D-to-3D conversion and depth adjustment.
That is sad to hear, because it was a big improvement on the 21:9. If the 7000 series had this too, i think it made it a good selling point. Anybody that has seen how great it looked on some scene's would have loved to have depth control. If that was why it popped out like in the movie "a turtles tale: sammy's adventures a secret passage".
