Dear Streamium users,

The Napster music service will change the way the music is streamed starting as of 23rd March 2012. This change unfortunately will require an update of your Streamium device software in order to continue enjoying the music from Napster. We are working on the software change and the software update will be available per the following schedule:

NP 2500/2900 : last week of May 2012
NP 3500, NP 3900 : June 2012
NP3300, NP 3700, MCi 8080 and MCi 900: July 2012

Exact dates will be announced on this forum as soon as possible.

We apologize for any inconvenience that may cause you. In the meantime, you can still enjoy the Napster service from your computer.

Guys, this is really a shame.

I understand that it takes time to update the software, but nearly every other vendor has already finished the work!
I bought my NP3900 just to access my Napster library, and now I'm not able to use it for 3 months (this btw means that I can't use it for 12.5% to 25% of its whole lifetime, assuming a normal device lifetime of 12-24 months!). You can't be serious?!

Unfortunately, I bought it 4 weeks ago. Otherwise, I'd send it back and buy a device from a competitor. :mad:

Same problem here as well! Deeply disappointed again with Philips: the iPhone/iPad app MyRemote 2.0 is buggy as hell, consumes incredibly amounts of memory. My Streamium set becomes worthless from 23-3-2012 the next 3 months because Philips is 'late' in releasing a new firmware for the changes Napster has announced long time ago. And now the 'Fidelio' app became cripled..... There is a Dutch saying: als je het niet kunt, moet je het niet doen: if you can't do the trick, don't: that is what Philips however forgot: it is that I love Ambilight, but after this I am again on the point to ditch EVERY Philips product from my home, including all bulbs.Philips: stop using your customers as testing-service, or pay them for that, but stop this madness !!!

I had copied your post and started a "new thread" with your text into the Np3900 since I think was good idea to do so ( maybe even for all models) but its gone now.......why?

when I encountered Napster problems and found the German translation of the outage announcement I though that this MUST be a joke. Then I found out that it is not. And "coincidentally" you start actively promoting Spotify. My Streamium device came with a Napster compatible logo + promotion code - and guess what? I actually prescribed to Napster thinking that a device labelled as Napster compatible actually is and will be... What a bold assumption. Frankly speaking I still cannot believe that you are serious in announcing firmware updates for JUNE. How dare you? And I would not be inclined to believe that you were surprised by Napster changing its encoding - that message has been around for months. The company that once invented the CD is not capable of following up on Napster developments? Dit is te gek voor woorden! Guess I will throw that P device where it belongs and look for some device that works, from a company that is not playing Spotify tricks on its customers.

can these dates not be improved upon i paid a high retail price for the premium mci900 and np3900 with this feature and 3 months later i still cannot access napster

Since Napster had changed there streaming format the Napster app didn't work anymore. When I try to play a song the player skipped direct to the next song and to the next song and so on...

Bevor the change I had used the Napster app without any problem.

Good Morning

this is disappointing news its now 5 months since Napster changes and still no confirmed fix date

i paid a premium price for the streamium devices and these delays are really not acceptable

i own one other non philips device and that had an update within 2 weeks!

surely more resource can be put into fixing this issue which was on of the reasons i bought the system

finally there has been no firmware update of any kind since last year can an update with fixes etc be released in the meantime please?

this is one of the worst jokes I've ever heard.

I thought I buy a premium product and get service, updates, and everything that goes with it. The opposite is the truth.
Contrary to your vision, you have not improved my quality of life with this product.

Now I have to believe you and eagerly await the "early September 2012"

At this time ( a few days before) I could enter Napster at MCI8080 with Login and Password. I can also get to Channels and Playlists. But if you click on it only "Error" came. So I sent an email to Philips support. They even have no good news on it. They only told that Napster is available at November 2012 - is that a real date or even only a date to satisfy the customers??? I cannot believe it. Other sound systems work with napster since new beginning of Napster. Now it's months ago... I really cannot understan!

I have to agree on this now

this is totally unacceptable - no napster since March and no fixes since November last year for mci900/mci8080/np3900

when will the firmware be available September was promised!

will Philips be compensating users for this? i paid premium prices for this hardware which doesnt function due to poor firmware

Unbelievable!! NOTHING SINCE MARCH!!!! So many People including me bought the product because of the Napster availability! And now? There is only dust on my streamium device. It will be old and outdated soon. Spend the money for nothing. Very very disappointing. Even more disappointing that there is no word from Philips about compensation. Sad.

some days ago I got access to Napster again. What a feeling. But I could do no more than searching and looking for the results. My device didn't play anything, but said "Der Medienserver ist momentan nicht verfügbar ..." No Media Server available. I have internet connection, web radio is ok.

Please help

No, it still doesn't work. The same message as before. I have the NP3500 and normal webradio works.

I can search and see results, even cover pictures, but it won't play the songs.

Napster by Rhapsody is runnnung on my NP2500/12!

I activated the 30days trial from Napster (by Rhapsody), that is a new link in the menu. It tells you that you will have to register for Napster/fidelio. Fidelio is the new Philips series of wireless audio devices.

****Please note: I didn't update my device, the software running is still VB16.20S!

Because new Napster is now playing with the ***old*** software, this is the proof that the Napster outage was not due to technical reasons, but that it is solely related to legal stuff!

In other words, we customers were taken hostage by Philips managers in an attempt to force a bigger deal for their respective business interests.
IMHO this is in fact totally intolerable, Philips way to act is just impertinent and insulting.

I am wondering how long Philips will survive in a market which is nowadays driven by customer relation,
no longer by technical advancement. If you buy a simple tablet for the same money as for a Philips device, than you have much more choice and can not be locked in by an arrogant management.

It is frustrating to watch this drama where an old traditional company is being ruined by their own guys.

P.S. Napster by Rhapsody compared to the old Napster has a bad coverage of small European labels,
even if new Napster will run again in Philips devices this will be not a good solutiion for me.

Wow, I can't believe it - exactly 1 year after I lost access to Napster (and 9 months later than originally promised), my NP3900 received an update 3 days ago. I didn't belive anymore that this update will ever come to us - but then it came. Finally, I can access my Napter account again, and can use the NP3900 the way it was originally intended.
