I'm sure I'm not the only one, have been in the proces of getting some PTA516 glasses since februari 2012. Delivery has been postponed several times. Last info from my dealer states 29th of may ?
At whome it may concern at Philips: when will these glasses, or it's succesor PTA 517, be available ?

You can ask for something like a control number to detect where is the product you already bought. For all I know, Philips team can provide this for you. http://imagicon.info/cat/12-19/text-smiley.png

I've also been waiting on glasses since January. Philips still haven't given my retailer in Norway (Elkj°p) a delivery date.

I can confirm you are not the only one. Since December 2011 I'm waiting for the glasses. After 3 months I cancelled my order. Last week on 19/4/2012 I send an e-mail to the customercare of Philips to ask about the pta516 glasses. The reply I got said that the glasses where not available because they had to work/improve on the performance of the glasses.
Customer care confirmed that the glasses would become available around 20 april in big volumes. They could not indicate how much time it would take before they would be available at the retailers. But I have hope they will be soon available.
Interesting side fact: It seems like Philips still simply refunds PTA516, which were sent in for repair.
In March, I've sent in three glasses for exchange because of their "humming" sound, as I read new ones would be available already. Maybe they exist, but they are obviously not available - anyway, I got a refund two weeks ago - without any chance of getting new ones.
Pretty nice stunt, Philips. :-/

My PTA 516 arrived last Friday. No humming sound. The latest version should have a "V3" sticker on the inside of the glasses. No mentioning of this on the package itself. Be aware the manual states to peel of the protective layer from the glasses. Mine didn't have them at all.

Is there any PTA 516 owner who managed to adjust the nose bridge?

Phillips 40PFL9705. Purchased in May 2012 from a reputable dealer who confirmed that the set was 3D ready. However they could not supply spectacles. We also found when we re-read the web brochure that part nos PTA215, a 3D transmitter and PTA 516 glasses were needed before 3D could be used. In other words the TV was never 3D ready!! I have tried to order these items from the Phillips on line store however they are not even listed!! By various means we have been told that the PTA 215 is about to be upgraded and that the PTA 516 is being upgraded to PTA 517 however I cannot get a peep out of any Phillips supplier. Anyone out there who can put me in touch with a human being at Phillips who knows whats going on in their rapidly declining empire, and no wonder!!

the PTA215 IR sender should be available in online stores. And you can use the PTA516, PTA507 and PTA517. However, the PTA516 will be replaced by PTA517...

Thanks Toengel for your very prompt reply. However although I am aware that the PTA215 is available on Amazon and Ebay (Now listed as clearance items by the way) I want to place an order for the complete kit. In addition I want glasses that are USB rechargeable, buzz free with an adjustable nose piece which my spy tells me is the PTA 517 v3+. Lastly I do not want to order the PTA 215 if there is a new transmitter on its way.
I have been a Phillips user, TV (27 of them), audio and domestic for over 30 years as well as a shareholder and this is the first time I have been disappointed with the product. As usual the technology is excellent but now spoilt by misleading product information, non existent dealer support and a complexity in use.
Very sorely tempted by the deal that Samsung have offered me, identical TV with 3D and four pairs of glasses, same price, plug and play.
However will wait and see if anyone else can point me to a stockist.

Have just been notified that my PTA 517 glasses have arrived however my supplier states that they do not appear to carry the V3 mark mentioned in other replies nor are the lens covered with protective film again a point made on other replies in this forum. Is there any way that I can verify that these glasses are genuine June 2012 issue with all the modifications and not reworked bin ends? Any suggestions welcome. As this is the last straw in our 3D drama we have decided that this will be the last chance for Philips products as our confidence in their products and service has been completely shattered.

only the PTA516 have V3 (the buzzing free glasses).
The PTA517 (2012 models) are buzzing free from the scratch ;-)
You can read the production week from the serial: position 5-8 indicate the year and the week.

The latest revision of the PTA 516 glasses should show "V3" to be sure you have the ones that don't buzz or humm (see post #6).
PTA 517 glasses are the successor of the PTA 516's.
Edit: double answer! Toengel and me must have been entering an answer at the same time :D

Thank you Paladium for the update, as you can see Toengel came up with the goods as well. Thank you both anyway. Just placed an order with an independent UK Philips dealer who confirms that they actually have the goods in stock. Toengel, at the moment they are busy checking the boxes for date of manufacture, despite the fact they think I am a nuisance, they are actually looking!!! Will let you know the results soonest.

Toengel and Paladium. I promised you an update:
Extract from my suppliers email.
Thank you - yes the serial numbers on the glasses we have are Week 23 of 2012 therefore from the information given below would be 'factory fresh' and acceptable."
By the way none of the Philips shops show any availability.

Just to let you know that PTA 215 and PTA517 arrived. Am starting to fit it all up soon so keep watching Toengel and Paladium, just in case Phillips have bowled me another googly ( Explanations about "googly" supplied, if required by my European mainland friends
For the records: I meanwhile got mine, too.
In exchange, I took the PTA517 instead of simply replacing the P516 - but I didn't notice any real difference. Only the humming sound is gone now.
Well, at least they do what they ought to.
