Philips 55PLF7606T12 vs. 55PLF5527T/12

Anyone who knows anything about the the new philips 55PLF5527T/12 (http://www.philips.co.uk/c/televisions/5500-series-140-cm-55-inch-3d-dvb-t2-c-55pfl5527t_12/prd/). I am thinking of buying this tv or the 55PLF7606T/12 (http://www.philips.co.uk/c/televisions/7000-series-140-cm-55-inch-easy-3d-dvb-t2-c-55pfl7606t_12/prd/). The problem is im stuck. I know that the 55PLF7606T/12 (http://www.philips.co.uk/c/televisions/7000-series-140-cm-55-inch-easy-3d-dvb-t2-c-55pfl7606t_12/prd/) has got very good responces from users. The problem is that the 55PLF5525T/12 (http://www.philips.co.uk/c/televisions/5500-series-140-cm-55-inch-3d-dvb-t2-c-55pfl5527t_12/prd/) is a new model and i have searched the net, but the only thing i find is the specs on philips home page.

That I was wondering Which one of them should I buy? :confused:

Have both the 7606 (http://www.philips.co.uk/c/televisions/7000-series-140-cm-55-inch-easy-3d-dvb-t2-c-55pfl7606t_12/prd/) and 5527 (http://www.philips.co.uk/c/televisions/5500-series-140-cm-55-inch-3d-dvb-t2-c-55pfl5527t_12/prd/) shall have the same picture quality and smart TV section?

1. What is the difference between "edge LED backlight" and "LED Full HD"?

2. What is the difference between "Easy3D" and "3D Max Clarity 400"?

3. What is the difference between "Pixel Precise HD" and "Pixel Plus HD"?

I can see in another thread that you've already ordered the 55pfl5527T. but i would like to answer your questions anyway.

First of all I can see you mentioned TV models from 3 different years.
1. 55pfl5527T - 2012 model
2.55pfl7606T - 2011 model
2. 55pfl5525T - 2010 model.
As you can see the last number in the model number is increasing by 1 for each year.

When it comes to the other questions you have.

1. Edge LED backlight is 1 strip of lights on each side of back of the screen lighting inwards, LED full HD ( referring to 5527T) got 1 strip of light in the bottom behind the screen lighting upwards on the tv.

2. The difference between easy 3D and 3D max is simple. easy 3D got passive glasses and 3D max got active glasses.

3. When it comes to Pixel Precise and Pixel plus HD the only difference is amount of colours the TV have.

You want an answer from somebody from Philips ? The point of this forum is that users help each other first. Maybe I can help.

Answers:
1. Probably no difference, both are edge-lit.
2. Important difference: Easy 3D is passive 3D, with circular polarizer glasses and half-HD resolution per eye in 3D mode. 3D Max is active 3D, with battery-powered shutter glasses and full-HD resolution per eye, but it flickers at 60 Hz per eye.
3. Probably no difference, both TVs use TV550 platform.

I have sold one 55PFL7606 to a friend and he is very satisfied with it. We prefer passive 3D and a non-glossy screen. So that is my recommendation. And you may get a good (sale) price on it.
