View Full Version : shb9100: hum on right ear with bluetooth - normal?
Hi,
I've got a brand new shb9100. I want to hear music and audio books via bluetooth from smartphone and tablet.
Unfortunately there appears to be a constant hum on the right ear while playback. This, of course, is very disturbing inbetween songs, in quieter parts of songs or when hearing voice in audio books. I'm not very happy with it...
As soon as I stop playback, the hum remains for another second and then it vanishs.
Now I'd like to know if this is normal behaviour or if I can do something about it.
Or should I return it and get a new one (sbh9100 again?)?

What happens if you use it wired ( just for testing ofcourse), do you have the same humm then also?

If using wired, there's no such hum or noise at all. For me it looks like the hum/noise occurs while receiving bluetooth data.
When I stop playback on the tablet, the hum vanishs after about 1 or 2 seconds, with the iPhone it takes about 5 seconds.
As soon as I start playback again, there's a short crackle (strangely on the left ear) before I can hear the music again.
Furthermore, the intensity of hum/noise is independently of the volume on the tablet and on the head phones.
Otherwise the sound is great, but this basic noise is rather disturbing.

Can you try with a different phone (android for example) to see if the issue is there
I tried with Android tablet and iPhone - I probably can test it this evening with another Android phone.

i just had a short look with my Android on a friends one but listened only to music.....worked ok and no humm

Also if you pause or stop playback you don't hear some background noise anymore? Which vanishs after a short period of time?
I think, I'll order a replacement and compare.

To be honest did not hear any background noise at al. Not when pausing nor when playing ....
