Did you try WAC handler?

The WAC-handler I downloaded yesterday from the author's site contains a Trojan-virus according to my virus-scanner.

Mmmmm, never heard that and know lots of people use this.....

I know the author is around here on the forum, lets see if he can help

My scanner says it's the Virus.Win32.Virut
It's in WACHandler.exe 2.2.52.186

Hi, any news on this?

Did you try with a different PC and operating system already.

It might be that the problem is on your PC or with your operating sytem. I have it myself on a W7 and a Vista laptop and all works perfect....

That's a confirmed false positive. It was taken care of about 2 years ago in the AV software.
What AV are you using ?

Cheers !

Hi !

WADM must be executed in Windows XP compatible mode, otherwise it always crash in Windows 7.
WACHandler doesn't need Win XP compatibility mode though ;)

Cheers !

confirmed false positive?
When downloading it Google Chrome says the file seems harmful, when opening the zip Comodo-firewall (it's up-to-date) says I really should not let it execute, and Microsoft Security Essentials (also up-to-date) says it contains the Trojan.
3 independent checks say I should not open or run the file, and you say it's a false positive?
Mmmmm.

Hi !

AVG, Trend Micro and Windows Security Essentials on 2 of my machines does not detect anything rare at all. Plus I wrote the application so I know what's in it too... Or rather what's not in it.

A few years ago, there were a couple of false positives but those were removed when I asked McAffe and Avast to review their detection algorithms.
If you give me more exact info and versions about the messages from Google Chrome, firewall and MS Sec Essentials I might be able to ask them to fix this.
My guess is that it's most probably a reaction to WACHandler's function that modifies your IP settings (to make it connect to factory rest WACS devices).

Update: The version at my webpage is clean too it is byte by byte exactly the same I have compiled and linked on my own PC. So it is guaranteed to be cleaned. If it indeed is infected with something, it must have happened after you downloaded it. The MD5 hash of the exe file = 40daa2707e649553bc5da0e827ef6f96.

Cheers !

Hi,
downloading from your site with Internet Explorer causes no problem, and when I tell Comodo the file is safe I could open the programme.
I don't kmow what happened yesterday (Chrome complained that the download contained a virus).
Thanks for the update!

Louis
