47pfl8404h/12 and usb connection?

I have a 47pfl8404h/12 and I wanted to know whether the only way to connect to my router is through Ethernet cable or I could also use Philips' usb for wifi connection.

No, the PTA01 WiFi Dongle is not compatible with the 2009 series (xxPFLxxx4x/xx).

So, yes you must use a wired solution (however you could make it sort of "wireless" via e.g. a Powerline adapter).
