Hi,

in Germany - it would be nice to have an IT news APP (like http://www.computerbase.de (http://www.computerbase.de/)/)

Also an APP for the Philips-FAQs of the Philips service website (where the TV/BD model is chosen automatically). I think, that most users could solve many problems by themselves when they know where to find solutions.

The "Mediatheken" from RTL, VOX, etc. - where tv series are shown for 7 days after broadcasts...

BBCs iPlayer integration... ;-)

Philips videostore for Germany :D - which is STILL missing

Eindhovens Dagblad (Dutch Newspaper) works already nice on the open internet, when you use M.ED.NL (Mobile version). Perhaps a piece of cake to convert this into an official app? http://m.ed.nl/

Skype : Greece

For Skype you need a microphone & camera. Panasonic has it as a kit. It is very expensive. panasonic-skype-camera (http://www.geek.com/articles/gadgets/panasonic-skype-camera-available-now-for-viera-hdtvs-in-the-united-states-20100518/) I prefere a cheap solution, just by connecting my webcam with build-in mricrophone into the USB of the TV.

First of all I appreciate what is available now. Our top 3: NOS Journaal, Uitzending Gemist, Arte.
1. Agree with JohnnyQ - VANDAAG.NET/
2. Improve the existing NU.NL/ (a. more categories like science, b. configurable (settings in cookie), c. no incorrect XML parsing)
3. An app which is a starter for Google (search) so that one can use the quick list
4. A cartoon app like there is for other countries but not for NL

Great idea, Philips! I will immediately take advantage of it! :-)
Italy:
1) Italian main television has a site where you can see their programs over the last week: Rai Replay (http://www.rai.tv/dl/replaytv/replaytv.html), but they are using MS Silverlight, not Adobe Flash Player. There is something like this also for the other main Italian television, Mediaset, but I don't know the link
2) I agree with daL for an app which is a starter for Google (search) and possibly Gmail too
3) A good weather channel, in my opinion, is http://www.3bmeteo.com
4) Skype (with a cheap solution like an USB webcam/mic) would be really great!

Philips, check the posts on this forum (!)
There was already a request for new services in the netherlands.
See the former post below.

RTLXL.nl in NET TV as new service ?

RTL launcht today a video-on-demand platform called RTLXL.nl. Also included is the service "RTL gemist".

This service (RTL gemist) is already available in NET TV for the Netherlands.

Question for Philips: Will in the near future the whole RTLXL.nl platform also be available as service in NET TV ?

2) Please update uitzending gemist so you see per day the missed programs (like RTL gemist)

3) SBS gemist !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you mean? You want to surf internet on TV while connected to internet through proxy and without soho router? I think you never get this option directly in TV...

Hi avia, Uses home router and local ISP, but PC runs software to switch traffic via another server.
I use it to access tv content which is location specific (by IP address). Maybe it is not possible on NetTv, but I can only ask.
The alternative is to run the PC with the proxy, connect to the website and replicate on tv using Pluggit..... but has degraded performance - as you already noticed.

Hi,

1) I think this will be a feature of the 2011 series. They need a "safe" memory with encryption due to the broadcasters licences
2) THAT is a feature that many users ask for. At the moment you can use the jointSPACE example
3) nice feature if one uses a jointSPACE application. But one should be able to deactivate this
4) no comment
5) no comment
6) nice to have feature. Web cam via USB - maybe only Philips certified cams :D
7) always good to see version information

Hi there
I really think that you need to seriously have to think about adding Adobe Flash media support in the browser in the Philips TV's. If that could be implemented I think that you would cover a large majority of the "TV-play" sites on the net. Including BBC iPlayer and many others, who are based on Flash.

I come from Sweden myself and would really love to be able to use the national TV www.svtplay.se for watching and TV shows and news etc. Great on PC, would be even better on the TV directly.

Thanks!

Spotify would be cool yes, however, how about integrating the entire experience more in the TV experience, instead of having a seperate NetTV menu and screen, what if I can have little applets on the TV while I watch TV, such as weather, news etc.
Or even better: From what I can see the internals of my TV are a small Linux device, what about opening this thing up so other parties can develop for it. I have a Linux based sat receiver, its incredible what teams like PLi and others can do. Or maybe have Boxee on it

Yes, stealing idea's from people that is a good way to make profit isn't it? First of all I would like to see the applications be ordened and the application uitzendinggemist (there is a long list with the think that can be watched). I would like to see Politiek 24 and journaal 24 added to the NOS application.

I would like to see that Turkey gets involved in this project. I would like to see Turksat, TRT, Dogan Holding ( Star tv, Kanal D, CNN Turk) and uitzending gemist for Turkey.

Also I would like to see cartoonnetwork for the Netherlands and some other anime video channels where it is possible to watch anime movies like dragonball and thinks like that.

Net TV is also working slow, I would like to see it made bugfixed that is would run smoother.

The whole point of open source is that anyone can use it as long as any improvements they make are given back to the open source community.

Any vendor using open source technology, and contributing back is where I put my money.

Anyone still developing their own interfaces while great products already exist in open source should think twice what they are doing.

So you see, it is actually not stealing at all. It's just about being smart and doing what makes the most sense.

Bulbule

I'm not sure if that means Flash support or not, after all, you can get iPlayer on a very well known tablet that famously doesn't support Flash.

And, let's face it, your TV rivals support iPlayer......

I would like to have maxdome as an online video on demand service. I know that there is videoload planned to be available, but I think to have another option to choose might increase the number of available films, might trigger some kind of competition in technical improvements, pricing and usability.

I have an account and some movies to look at maxdome, but know need a seperate account for videoload. Videoload also does not have every video which is available on maxdome.

To those who has iphone;
I installed IMediaShare on my iphone. It works perfectly. You can share movies and pictures on your iphone with 7000 series. So that you share them with your family and friend without having to hook up your iphone with cable to your TV.
You can also share your facebook albums, picassa and Flickr sets as well. It is free to try with pictures. Once you buy the application you can share movies.
Also I installed TV Remote philips application(via itunes). Works great as well..

Yo,
Personally it is not interesting to have 2000 websites from all over germany or italy in the tv. No offence to previous posters.

What is needed is the possibility for the browser to launch the contents of these sites. Functionality (plug-ins) such as flash is deeply needed. Don't say that adobe won't port it to Philips. Philips is, at least in my pfl7695, using embedded linux and opera as a webbrowser. This is not rocket sience.

Please add such support.

it would be nice to have all the UK services, (BBC Iplayer, ITV Player, 4OD, 5OD, Lovefilm etc). available as for a major european country we have nothing worthwhile bothering with on philips net tv, and when you look at germany, belgium, spain, etc their list of apps goes on for quite a few pages.

Maybe we could have a listing on the forum that shows us what is available to each country, and available in english as looking through some other countries apps half the stuff don't work for UK people.

Like many others I'd like to see the BBC iPlayer as an app on net tv. I think Samsung has it now, so why not Philips.

The only thing is as i'm in Germany, I guess the UK iPlayer would be blocked anyway. The BBC are due to release an International (Subscription-based) version of the iPlayer later this year however and I see no reason why this couldn't become a net tv app for use from anywhere.

Initially its only coming out on the iPad, but Philips should contact BBC worldwide and see if they'd be interested in an app for tvs.

Other than that i'd also like to see:

SVT-PLAY

How about an App for Slingbox users!

With a slingbox you can watch your home country's tv anywhere....only thing is that its not so great having to watch it on a laptop. Yes you can link your laptop to the TV but it still means having to switch your laptop on everytime you wanna watch telly.

Sling do make a settop box with a remote called the slingcatcher that theoretically removes this need but its fairly expensive and some say it doesnt work brilliantly.

Seeing as your Philips telly is already connected to the net, couldn't there be a "Slingcatcher App" where you could link to your slingbox (whereever in the world it is) and use your normal philips remote to watch and control tv as if you were in your own country?

Hi Phililps. The Youtube application is nice, but (there is always a but) we are not able to use all the features of the playlist, like the Youtube site do. A problem araise when we want to play the complete tracklist of the Youtube playlist. During birthday parties is it a shame to show this application. It is not a problem to programm (and play) the playlist on the Youtube site by using a computer machine. But I am sure that it will create value for customers if they are able to play the tracklist automatically. At the moment we have to switch off our television during parties, that's a pitty!

Dear Nettle,

A good video store should support movies in High Definition, 3D movies, direct streaming and streaming via SD-card buffer memory, Dolby surround sound, subtitle and language settings options and multiple payment options and it must be compatible with a variety of hardware (several generations of TV’s and Blu-Ray players).

You can see that there is a lot technology behind this; it requires complex building and a lot of testing.
We have multiple partners in process of building Net TV compatible video stores. Several stores are already in testing and finalizing phase. We can only release stores if they pass all the tests. Therefore it is not possible to mention release dates.

We make good progress and we will get there, step by step.
Please be patient.

There should definitely be an RSS/Podcast app with the ability to add video (including HD) podcasts if the format is supported by the BDP/TV (similar to the functionality offered by iTunes on Macs and PCs).

There should be a Facebook app, and of course the Youtube app should be HD when available.

I'm still very happy with my philips TV and think the Apps usually good, however I can't help but think that Philips are always very slow in getting new apps out there.

Yet again I see that the BBC have released some kind of News app....and who gets it Samsung!

Maybe its the model you have set up. If you look at Apple anyone can develop apps and Apple gets a cut of any profit meaning that within months there were literally thousands of apps. Every once in a while I start up the Philips App gallery hoping to find some cool new app and find nothing new.

The beeb are about to release the Global Iplayer on the ipad , but are then talking about opening this up to connected TVs.....will Samsung be first again

Delivering these services to a Philips TV without the need to purchase extra hardware sounds to be the way forward. YouView has now published its core technical specification.

I checked the site www.youview.com (http://www.youview.com/).
This really looks promising. I wonder if it will be usable outside the UK. (BBC-iPlayer is not :().
We see in Germany the HBB-TV coming up (works on our Philips TV's as well).
In the UK they choose to do it their own way (as always).
Will it work on our Philips TV's?

On 2k11 devices we have BBC iPlayer available. Take care, BBC does not allow playback when you are outside the UK.

Does this mean that my tv is already out of date then? No firmware updates?

Hi,

it could be that the BBC iPlayer APP needs some "stuff" that is only available in 2011 series...

BTW, your firmware is really old... version 140.37 is already available on the webpage...

Thanks you're right , I've found the later firmware (140.37) and upgraded!
Would still like the i-Player for my 'old' tv which I bought 6 months ago though!

I was told by the Philips help desk in the UK that due to the license agreement with the BBC, the iplayer is only available on UK models i.e those with a /05 suffix. Because the BBC is funded by a TV License which all TV owners have to purchase, whether they watch BBC channels or not, any domestic service the BBC provide is usually available within the UK only. The internet online content is also restricted outside the UK.

I am not sure how this will work on the 2011 models which have a T/12 suffix and will be available in Scandinavian countries also because, along with the UK are using DVB T2 to deliver HD channels. Therefore, the 05 suffix seems to have disappeared for 2011 TVs.

I should add that the iplayer app is truly stunning with standard and HD channels, excellent picture and sound with smooth performance via WiFi using BDP7600/05. (I recently replaced my 12 month old BDP7500/12 to get iplayer on the latest model).

You could use FrameChannel (http://www.wirelesspictureframe.com/what-is-framechannel/)... (Already available as app)
AFAIK, FrameChannel has closed down their service.

We want Vimeo.
Well... I do.:D
Yes, We want Vimeo app!

Philips, when do we get Google+ app? I've been beta testing the community for a while and would like to hear you are going to make an app for it. Google+ seems to be more pretty and easier than FB when I first time learnt to use it.

Dear Philips, dear community.

To me (in Belgium) the most valuable NetTV application is actually the possibility to listen to radio streams from over the world. My "wish" is that NetTV would also support AAC streams as, for example, made available by the BBC radio. Kind regards from Paul.

Hey,

there is also a video portal: MyVideo. They have already an hbbtv application available. Maybe you can add to the available NetTV apps?

Link is:
http://b2b.myvideo.de/tv/index.xhtml

Worked fine on my 42PFL7695K/02, as far as I have tested.

I have found it on hbbig.com, which might also be added.

Just found another interesting:

Nice videos with news on consumer electronics. german.

Seems that there is a couple of nice hbb sites, which I did not know as they are not in NetTV. However, they are working. But they are difficult to add to the favorites of internet. Since one has to type the complete url. Would be good to be able to just add it with menu.

Hey Philips Guys,

all these new applications (skype, you tube, etc...) are nice but the real need, right now, is to have the TV connected to a wireless keyboard + trackball via USB.

Is too annoying typing the message/adresses/etc... using the remote control or the primitive virtual keyboard on the screen.

Philips, please take care of this missing feature on our TV.

@Nettle: Did you try the smartphone app? I use it and I think making use of the smartphone keyboard really helps here. Also a smartphone is more handy as a real keyboard.

Of course, you can type more and better with a real keyboard, but I do not interact with the TV as much as with a computer. Its more a multi-user device, interacting as much might annoy others. But this is just my opinion.

Dear Philips,

this is a scandal: I've purchased my TV less than one year (Dec.2010, mod. PFL8605M/08) and the customers/forumers are asking for this feature from the birth of this forum (and I was checking in it several months b4 my logging as user before to purchase my TV).

Philips has never given an answer on this wireless keyboard request........... and now "regretfully" it is available ONLY for the new models 2011.
I could wait to purchase the TV in the future, in this way not.

Just to say: in the year 2010 the people will purchase our TVs (instead of the competiors models aleady offering this feature) avoiding to say that this feature will never be available. To claim the truth too early could cause the loss of orders.

What a delusion! It's a shame.

No retrofit kits, no adapters,....nothing!!!

Perfect example of customers fidelity management.

deve ser por que a televisão que eu comprei não presta e não suporta nada nada. enquanto as outras marcar tem de tudo no seu OS.
