Hi

I am trying to use the Wifi Meda connect to project my laptop to the TV.
The model is 42PFL7695H/12 I have successfully connected to the internet wirelessly and can browse the internet.

I have dowloaded and installed the wifi media connect software. When I hover over the icon in the system tray it tells me that it is still "Searching for a TV on the network".

I know the TV is on the network because i can ping its IP address from the laptop.

My laptop is running MS Vista Business edition. The wifi media connect has been added as an exception to the firewall.
As far as I can see there is no firewall issues on my broadband router.

Please help as the remote control is getting a thrashing with all the text typing ;)
Thanks

Try this,
First run the wifi program untill the icon says searching .....
Then and only then switch on your tv
In a few moments he icon will become solid black and presto you are ready to do whatever job you like,

Sorry for the doubt:

in order to interact successfully with the TV from the laptop,

1) should I heve tha Philips wireless dongle + Wifi media connect software or

2) the wireless connection betwenn my PFL8065 (connected with the router via LAN cable) and my laptop (connected via WLAN with the router) is already enough?

Is ask for this because, right now, the files from my pc to the TV are played with many interruptions and I'm not satysfied.

Hi Nettle,

Wifi always has issues with interference. the Tv should be near to the router and the laptop also. Download vistumbler or netstumbler to check and see if there are other neighbours on the same or near wireless channel pick channels 1/5/13

Hope this helps

Hi, I was struggeling with a similar issue. After securing everything was connected as expected, I still got the ''searching for tv on network''. Then I disabled the network threat protection on my pc (trusting the FW in the router to keep me safe) and it connected instantly displaying on the pc on the TV. So worked fine except from a performance perspective since I'm using a .11g-router. Will try with an .11n-router later.

Hi Mikili,

I solved my issue by connecting to my routers admin page and enabling upnp.
I then had to allow traffice to pass from WIFI to LAN.

if you are still having issues post your routers model here and hopefully someone will help
Hope this helps

Hello All,

I have a Philips 37PFL7605H/12 and currently I cannot use Wifi MediaConnect ... because when I run this application it stays gray: searching TV on the network.

My ISP is ORANGE and my router is Livebox 2: http://assistance.orange.fr/livebox-2-fonctionnalites-3484.php

My TV and my computer (Windows 7 64bits) are in the same network.
My Firewall/Antivirus is ESET.

Please could you help me?

Many thanks.

Hi,

try the forum search - many tips are already posted in the forum.

Did your Net TV work? Does the Splashscreen of the program display your TV? Are you in the same local IP subnet?

Hi Toengel,

thanks for your reply.

I have read all topics in this forum and other forum and I tried everything ...but I still have the same issue: Wifi MediaConnect stays gray with the message: 'searching for tv on network .....

I use the Philips USB wifi Key and the Net TV works fine.

I haven't a Splashscreen ... because the Wifi MediaConnect seems not find my TV.
My TV: 192.168.1.15 (DHCP)
My computer: 192.168.1.10 (DHCP)
My DNS: 192.168.1.1
My router: 192.168.1.1
I can ping my TV from my PC

My Wifi channel is: 5

I also stop my Firewall (ESET) and change the priority of the firewall in my router (from Normal to Low)..

Maybe the problem is from my router?

Hi theudoo,

1 - Use the TV (Explore PC network start menu), instead of Wifi Media Connect software, to access folders on the PC and play media files to check if the connection between the TV and the PC is correct. If you can not access and play your PC folders from TV (Explore PC network start menu), the problem would be that the PC does not detect the TV, and this must be addressed prior to use Wifi Media Connect.
2 - Disable the antivirus completely, which usually cause many problems of this type.
3- Play from your PC with WMP Play-To, as described in the following article: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/play-to
If not played with Play-To WNP the problem is not Wifi Media Connect, and if it plays, then after test Wi-Fi Media Connect.
4 - Connect the TV and the router with ethernet cable to rule that the problem is the wireless connection.

You can read, related to the issue, the following items:

Hi Jomsp,

Thanks for your message.

1- I connected my PC and my TV directly to my router using ethernet cable.
2- I stopped my firewall (ESET Internet Security) and change the priority (to low) in the firewall of my router (windows firewall is also stopped).

When I open the windows network, my TV is not available .... I can see only my other PC, my mobile phone and Iomega screenplay director.

So, do you think that the issue is related to rhe setting on my TV?

Hi,

In my 2 PCs (windows 7 32b&64b) I haven't the option "Play To" in WMP 12 ....
So, I will try to understand how to do to have a correct LAN.

You do not see the option Play-To in WMP because you have not activated, in Windows, Sharing Multimedia Stream network devices. And in that case, the problem is not Wifi Media Connect, or anything to do with the Philips TV, but must be configured to allow W7 multimedia file sharing network.

Streaming Media To activate, log on to Windows with an Administrator user, and do the following:
1. Click the Start button, click All Programs, and Then click Windows Media Player.
Currently if the player is open and you're in Now Playing mode, click the Switch to Library button in the upper-right corner of the Player.
2. Click Stream, And Then Click Turn on home media streaming.
Turn on home media streaming Will not Be available on the Streammenu if streaming is Already Turned On.
3. Media streaming options on the page, click Turn on media streaming. If you're prompt for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or confirmation Provide.
4. Click OK.
This activation procedure Streaming Media, is described, for example, in the following article: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Stream-your-media-to-devices-and-computers-using-Windows-Media-Player

Streaming Media Once activated, be shown the option Play-To in WMP.
And, most important, now, the PC will detect the Philips TV and can access shared folders via the option "Explore PC network" in Philips TV start menu.

Another way to activate Media Streaming is marked active "Multimedia" on "Change advanced settings sharing" option that can be accessed from "Network and Sharing Center."

It should be borne in mind that our Windows 7 or Vista, you must be at least Home Premium, or better, because if it was Home Basic or Starter, sharing function with other network equipment not working.

We look forward to your test.

:)

Thanks for the feedback.

I understand that you are using the TV (Explore PC network start menu) to access folders on the PC and to play media files. ¿No?.
Remember that now that the 32 bits PC detects the Philips TV, you can run the "Philips Media Connect" installed on your PC, to proyect into the TV-Philips any content displayed on the screen of the PC.

On the other hand, if it does not work on PC with 64 bits, recalls, go to my previous comments to detect the problem and tell us every step that you are doing so that we can help you.

Greetings

Wifi Media Connect is a joke! Just got the TV a week ago, didn't have the "dongle" which is really just a USB adapter. Philips said the TV should have come with it so they sent it to me free of charge. Popped it in, did the update, and it has worked only TWICE. I've done EVERYTHING suggested in every forum I've been able to find on this issue. Absolutely NOTHING happens. The TV just sits there with the little circle just turning over and over. I've got the software on the PC and the "Stop projecting" option is grayed out. I keep re-booting and turning the TV off and on. I've re-installed and downloaded several times. I've checked and re-checked router settings, TV settings, network settings. IT DOES NOT WORK! I'm able to view NetTV and I just bought a Sony Media Player to see if maybe it can do what Philips can't. No success. I'm tempted just to package up this joke of a TV (AND the Philips HTS system I bought separately) and get a total refund. Philips should have to pay ME for having wasted two of my weekends on trying to get this thing to operate as it should. Now, I'm on a mission to keep innocent victims from exposing themselves to this frustration.

I know I'll get a "canned" response from somebody saying to do everything I've already done. (And, no, enabling/disabling UPNP does NOT change anything.) So, to those people, save your breath. Offer some REAL advice for once and FIX this nightmare of a feature or offer a refund with compensation for stress and trauma. Maybe I should get a Sony TV because the Media Player works like a charm and set up was a breeze.

If you do not work but the rest of the world does, thinks the problem is not "Wireless Media Connect" but something of your own PC <-> Router <-> TV.

Check my last comments where I explain, what remains to determine, in advance, before running "Philips Media Connect."

To complain will not help you, you better do what is necessary. To do this, read my earlier comments and try my advice.

We await the outcome of your tests.

Excuse me? How about this? When the rest of the electronic world WORKS, such as Sony, Western Digital, Netgear (which I've used right out of the box with no problem whatsoever), and Philips doesn't work, then the problem IS with Philips. Did you even read my post? I already said that I have tried EVERYTHING, including what you said and it just plain doesn't work. I'm an advanced PC tech, so I know what I'm talking about. YOU, obviously, do not. It will be a chore, but I'm ready to pack up the TV and the Blu-Ray HTS and just cart them back to the stores for a big fat refund.

I have had to dig and dig for this information and it should have come with the product in the first place. Companies that make their customers chase information just so products will work are very inconsiderate. And it would help to be able to find that information in proper English...

before you say it's joke, you night want to look at your setup. I had the same situation myself where the tv worked in NETTV but did not work under wifi mediaconnect. TV and PC were on the same network and subnet. It turns out that my pc was a bit too slow ( yes i did not have the minimum requierement to run the software but installed it anyway). the philips logo would come follow by the circlr searching for the PC, the screen would come black after about 10 seconds. The Pc would then start to run very slow using > 90% cpu. Wifi mediaconnect is very demanding on the pc so be sure that you have at least a dual core (i don't mean base on a Pentium4 crap) well configured. with 500meg of free ram, it means under windows you would need 500 megs left, so your system should probably have 2 gig to be ok. For your reference i am using a 46" 7705DV/F7 hardwire to the network with a linksys RTP300 router. Mediaconnect works great, quality on the video is awsome.

Unlike many here, I've been lucky to get WiFi-Connect working straight out the box, however installing the program on my laptop has created another issue.

I have a series of hotkeys on my Asus laptop, for controlling brightness, volume, bluetooth etc. These hotkeys are accessed by pressing the relevant function key + the FN key. So F5+Fn turns brightness down, F6+Fn turns it up etc etc.

Well with the Wifi program installed, the F10, F11, and F12 keys do not work anymore - these are the controls for Mute Volume, Volume Up and Volume Down.

I know its this program because I just wiped my entire harddrive and reinstalled Windows. With a fresh install, Wifi-Connect was the first problem I installed, and the keys immediately stopped working. When I restored back to the snapshot I took before I installed, the keys worked perfectly.

Computer is : Asus X83V
OS is: Windows Vista

Any clues as to how to proceed?

I have a 46pfl7705DV/F7 TV (firmware _713 release 4/27/11). i am using the latest version of mediaconnect software(v 1.6.425). The pc i was using was a single core AMD 64 bit 3500+ 2.2ghz with 2 gig of ram. The pc and tv have the network hardwire 100mb. the NET was working but not the mediaconnect the pc was running very slow >90% cpu utulisation. I then swapped the pc with a dual core 1.6ghz and 2 gig of ram to try, it connected right away. clearly the mediaconnect software is very demanding on the cpu. even with the dual core (Coreduo 1.6ghz), it would run but would get the message that the apllication is overloaded to please close some program. I would say run it on a quad core and you would be fine at all resolution

Yes, Philips Media Connect is very demanding in terms of resources, especially demanding on the processor. Under Options, click right button on the wireless icon MediaConnect, if you select the tab SD resolution and the CPU goes above 70% of your processor is not able to move the application Wifi Media Connect. With your processor you can project photos and music, but probably will not have enough power for video.
In any case, try uninstalling the antivirus which is a consumer of resources and close all other applications while you project.

The recommended minimum requirements for Vista/7 are:
Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz
1 GB Ram (I'd say 2 GB)
200MB free hard disk space (I'd say 15% free C: partition or Windows instaled partition )

But the minimum requirements will only serve to project SD, if you want to move HD go to maximum-capacity processors, and I would advise them to be Intel.

Pd.: 64 bit and 2Gb?. This is not recommended. Get better performance if you have 32 bit and 2GB

Interesting data. I have not checked if something similar with a special key on my computer although it is not Asus. Philips should take note, if a bug in the Wi-Fi MediaConnect application that should be corrected.

This special keys are not controlled by the generic Windows driver, but by a proprietary driver from Asus, which is what appears to conflict with Wi-Fi Media Connect.

However, once installed Wi-Fi MediaConnect, try reinstalling the drivers for your Asus model for the control of special keys, which are the drivers that refer to the "touchpad" and key "multimedia". It fix the problem?.

We look forward to your test.

Hi,

WMC depends on your home network. It needs to transmit your PC desktop and stereo audio. You can reduce your desktop resolution. Also a powerful PC is necessary. If you use WLAN, it should have the N standard...

have you tried using a cable for both Router and laptop?

have you connected your laptop --Cat5 --- Router --- Cat5 -- TV

the more i use wifi media connect from my laptop wirelessly the worse it is.
i use cable to be certian that i will get a connection.
only 3 times out of 5 does the wireless work!!!

Philips must know about this issue....

If they wish for me to run some tests for them I can. but its very frustrating for it to work one minuite and not the next!!!

I have a core 2 duo PC which is connected to the network via an ethernet cable to the router and I have a 32" Philips TV 32PFL7605 connected with a WI-FI media connect USB dongle. I am trying to use the Wi-Fi Media Connect software, however the best resolution I can get is 1366 x 768.

Anyone got the same problem? I would like some help as to how I can project with a resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Hi,

what happens if you set your resolution to Full HD AFTER you established the connection?

Toengel@Alex

My current PC resolution is 1920 x 1080. As soon as I start projecting with the Wi-Fi Media Connect Software, I get the following message:

PC screen resolution too high

Wi-Fi Media Connect could not project with current screen resolution
The maximum resolution supported in this PC is 1366 x 768

Click OK to allow Wi-Fi Media Connect to change to the detected maximum resolution on this PC
Click Abort to cancel projection and change the PC screen resolution yourself

----

Is there any maximum resolution restriction from the software? I have a Core2Quad with 8gb ram and a Geforce 9600 graphics card. I do not think it's a hardware issue, since I meet all the requirements.

Hi,

just let the software establish the connection by reducing your PC resolution. If that works and you see your PC desktop on the PC, just change the PC resolution...

Dear All

I have a core 2 duo PC which is connected to the network via an ethernet cable to the router and I have a 32" Philips TV 32PFL7605 connected with a WI-FI media connect USB dongle. I am trying to use the Wi-Fi Media Connect software, however the best resolution I can get is 1366 x 768.

Anyone got the same problem? I would like some help as to how I can project with a resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Regards
Adrian

Hi

1366x768 is the maximum resolution for Wifi Media Connect.
Please be aware, the software transcodes the Desktop and all on it, live to a Videostream which will be send out to the Network and to the TV.

Therefore we have limited the Size as, by the time the Software was released and even yet, only a few PCs would be able to live Transcode 1080p and give you the ability to work on the same Time with the PC.

Hi,

if you have lost the disk, just get in contact with your Local Call Center, they can create a new Code for you.

Hi Mikili,

I solved my issue by connecting to my routers admin page and enabling upnp.
I then had to allow traffice to pass from WIFI to LAN.

if you are still having issues post your routers model here and hopefully someone will help
Hope this helps

Hello, I have same problem that you had. I can conect the TV via wifi, the router is 2m from the tv and signal is high. But when I run the WMConect the tv never shows my image.

My TV is: 40PFL9705H/12
pc portatil: ASUS Windows Vits Home Edittion
Router: TP-Link

If I go to the router I can see when the tv is conected, but image is never coming to the tv.
Firewall is now allowing WMConect

So I wan to ask you what you exactly did on router to allow the conexion, what is enabling upnp.??

Any help will be highly appreciated.

thanks
