assistance required with tv

Hi, as the title suggests i am having a couple of issues with my smart tv (47PFL7666T/12) more than likely its not the tv having issues but myself but a bad workman always blames his tools :)

First, how do i get subtitles to play when viewing videos through USB? as my partner is polish and sometimes struggles with the dialogue on some films and subtitles would make life a whole lot easier

And second, is this tv able to play MKV files? if so how do i go about doing it?

If i could get these issues resolved this already fantastic tv would be even better.

Hi,

be sure, subtitles are an extra file:

- movie.avi
- movie.srt

(Example)

Then you can activate the subtitle, by pressing the subtitle button or option button -> subtitle.

I have a 42PFL7662D/05 tv and a blue info box saying,
Preset list is empty
No tv channels are listed. Please use the setup menu to add services to the list.
If no digital channels are detected, press A/D key to switch to analogue mode.

I dont have the original remote.
I got a philips universal remote and the tv seems to be accepting the remote with the volume buttons, but no luck with setup menu.
Can someone please help me?
