Hello
I have a problem with my Ambilight. I bought the TV not long ago, and after about three weeks, the ambilight feature does not work anymore. I have no clue on what might be the problem, so I'll try to explain it in detail.

The ambilight feature is a back-light, and is supposed to enhance your TV experience. The Ambilight is alot of LED's at the back of the TV, and none of them seems to be powered. I've tried to turn it off, on, put static mode on, back to dynamic, basicly every option there is. On and off button aswell. No matter what I try to change, if I raise the intensity level of the ambilight, or just turn it off and back on, nothing happends. Its all black, and none of the LED's are getting power, or should I say, lights up.
I did update the frameware, since I couldt connect to the Phillips Smart TV servers, and this solved that problem. About a month after, this happends. My dad and I both love the Ambilight feature, and we feel like something is missing without it.
Please help!

The TV model/set type is 46PFL8007T/12
Production code is: ZH1P1306013109
Current frameware is: QF1EU-0.150.87.0, Note: QF1EU-0.150.87.0_bld28a

Hi,

Various supplier sites mention that the Philips 32PFL4508H/12 is UPC and Ziggo certified for use with CI+ module.
However, looking at the UPC site ([http://www.upc.nl/klantenservice/televisie/ci-plus/) the TV is not in the list of certified models.

Can someone confirm that this TV is UPC certified?

When entering the CI+ module into the TV no additional Digital Channels are searched for, as exected.
When looking in the TV Setup I can see all info derived from the CI+ module, meaning that the CI+ module is recognized and can be read. I updated the TV to the latest firmware (002.021.000.001, 2013-05-22), but still only the 31 analog channels are available.

Any clue how to solve this?

P.S
I already contacted UPC and they advised me to discuss this with the TV manufacturer.

Kind regards, Peter.

It's really disappointing since it is only 3 months old. I have the warranty but this should not happen with such a top TV. :(

Hi all,

For a few days now, my 2010 modell 46PFL9705K (latest firmware) has been causing trouble, I would appreciate any helpful advice.
Irrespevtive of the source (sat, tv, usb, blu-ray) after a few minutes in operation, the screen suddenly the red led starts blinking and the screen turns black while the sound continues and the Amiblight function flashes like in lounge-modus. Then, after a few seconds, the picture returns only to disappear again a little later.

In addition to that, one quarter of the scren (lower right hand corner) sometimes freezes and shows artifacts while the rest of the screen behaves normally.

I have not yet tried to restore factory defaults. I hope there is a simple solution to that (and not serious hardware error).

Many thanks,
Christian

Hello
I am about to purchase a new TV and I am considering PHILIPS. However, I really don't like burnt / stuck pixels. I remember long time ago I purchased a LCD Monitor 19" from PHILIPS with excellent quality and a policy of ZERO defective pixels (LCD 190B). It was a really good purchase.
I want to buy a new TV (32" or more) and I want to know what kind of class are your screens, if they are Class I screens or Class II screens.
As you may know, Normative ISO 13406-2 regulate pixel defects in LCD screens.

To read more about ISO 13406-2 please, follow this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_13406-2

As you may see, Class I screens must have zero defects.

Class II screens are screens with allowed defects (a second class product), and they could allow defects such as: 2 hot pixels (that is white pixels), 2 dead pixels (that is 2 black pixels) or 5 stuck pixels (that is 5 colored pixels / red / green / blue).

For me pixel defects are important. I remember I tested a BENQ monitor with a hot pixel, and it was a royal pain. All the time the white point disturbing the view.
Specially, when you are using your TV connected to the PC via HDMI and you are using the TV to close distances, defective pixels are a real problem. Before purchasing, I want to know what kind of Class are your TVs, if they are I class or second class screens.
Thanks

Yes, you probably all know this but how bothered are you?

The last Philips TV's to have 4:3 aspect ration support was 2009.

I had an online chat with a Philips representative who said that "4:3 ratio is obsolete and not used", also that "Philips no longer support 4:3 ratio" on TV's.

All tv drama's from the 70's to 90's were filmed in 4:3 and still available to buy. If you own a Philips tv from 2010 you can not watch these programmes in the intended aspect ratio without the tv doing some irritating automated picture adjustment.

One wonders if Philips will abandon the now common 16:9 ratio when 21:9 takes over ?
