4:3 view format
Hi,
Many of the TV stations in my region still use the older 4:3 format, legacy films shown are also in this format. I didn't find among the available Format options on my TV (42PFL4007H/12) an option for this format.
All options stretch the picture one way or another, to fill the frame. They all introduce distortions to achieve that. I don't mind black strips on the pictures left and right, but I do mind very much the distorted figures they produce.
Older TVs have the option to display in 4:3 format, and normally they detect the format and automatically switch between 4:3 and 16:9.
Is there a possibility to display in 4:3, on the 42PFL4007H/12 TV?
Thanks,
Moshe

Hi,
are you using the internal tuner?
Which firmware is installed on your TV?

Thanks for the reply, Alex
I'm not using the internal tuner. I use an external satellite inverter, connected via SCART.
Firmware is the latest (Q554E-0.96.0.0), it automatically downloaded and installed it the moment I connected the TV to the local network.

Hi,
can you setup your STB to 16:9? Then you will get black bars...

If by 'STB' you refer to the satellite converter, I don't think I can do anything about it. The satellite company replaced today the converter to 'HD' i.e. support for HD channels, in addition to the 'normal' format, and the distortions seem somewhat less pronounced. Actually, I don't know if the 'Screen filling' is done by the TV, or somewhere along the satellite channel.
Thanks,
