New set of 48PFS8109 with the latest software.
TV-quide doesnīt work. Instead I get a black screen (no sound).
This limits my TV functionality quite a bit.
Is there something I should try?
Without EPG the TV it quite invalid.
Newer mind. TV switched independently EPG source from cable operator to internet.
Started running smoothly when I switched it back.
TV Model: 55PFS8109
Factory Firmware: 5.60.1
Problem = Spontaneous CRASHING, FREEZING and REBOOTING:
The brand new TV set freezes and reboots about every 10 minutes. This is independent of input source etc, and you don't even need to touch the tv remote for it to happen. During the first 6 hours it crashed about 30 times(!!!)
Tried updating software to 5.72.2 but no difference.
The TV set is TOTALLY UNUSABLE, and either broken or badly designed. It will have to be returned to the shop.

+ Relatively quick menu navigation
+ Concurrent pause and record works (even if the manual says this doesn't work)
- Entire GUI locks up occasionally (video continues to display)
- Distorted DVB Subtitles
- Subtitles missing on German FTA (ARD, ZDF etc)
- Frequent lags in the GUI
- Unexpected GUI restarts in timeshift
- Channel matrix does not scale (tune in German/Swiss FTA to try)
- Can't sort channel matrix by name, provider or anything
- Sticky icon in up right corner in timeshift
- Sticky icon in up right corner when recording
- Turning off automatic channel update has no effect
- Can't merge favorite antenna and satellite channels
- No program preview in the TV guide
- Can't zap channels in the TV guide
- No simple TV guide for a single channel
- Can't record multiple programs concurrently
- Can't record programs overlapping in time
- Outdated EPG most of the time when pressing info button
This TV set has fabulous image quality, build, looks etc, but the software seems unfinished, bug-ridden and/or ill-designed. The TV channels, for example, are organized as apps on a phone. Imagine 3000 apps on a phone with no way to organize, and lagging arrow keys to navigate. Oh well. I guess the solution is to use this set as a display, and leave everything starting with TV and GUI to a set top box.

Overall the OS is easy to use
When putting power on it takes 30 seconds to get control of the TV.
Pointer doesnīt show up no matter what I do... Until it randomly shows up even if I donīt want it to.
I guess the startup delay is due to the energy saver, ie almost everything is turned off in standby, and thus it takes time to get things up and running again. The video shows up early in the startup process, presumably to have the startup delay appear shorter than it actually is. A mistake, in my opinion, is that audio is turned on with the video, long before it is possible to mute. I wake up my family at night because of this.
Another thing is that while sitting there waiting to get control of the TV, there is plenty of time to wonder about what program is actually on screen. But when the info banner eventually appears, it either shows no info or info about the program that was active when the TV was turned off. The TV guide has to be entered to get the program info right (on exit). And should you find another program to watch while in the TV guide, you can't zap to it. Instead you must memorize the channel, leave the TV guide and zap to the channel from the outside.
Amen to sound!
And I swear that it adds volume too... Well maybe it just feels like that when you sit in a quiet room.
Trying to stay as quiet as possible.
I switch to a no-sound info channel before closing the TV.
Wouldnīt be nice if it was shouting something from Stallone / Schwarzzttas+asasd+rgger / Willis - classics for the whole time.
I have also learned to put the TV on some minutes before I intend to use it.
My TV is teachin me how to live like a good minion.
To be fair, it is indeed possible to zap to a channel in the TV guide. Select the channel icon (not the program), then press OK to zap. Sorry for adding confusion. This would have been even more useful, though, had the TV guide listed all favorites, and not just the favorites for the current TV source.
