I have lot's of DVD's which I want to rip and put on my NAS, so I can play them easily from my network via "PC openen" on my TV.
The TV is a 32PFL7605H/12.
What would be the best format to rip them if I want to have the best quality and should I use any special features in the rip?
For most DVD's I need to add the subtitles in the rip and for some not.
Same question but then for the 32PFL9606H/12 model.
I think it's best to hook up an media player via HDMI (preferrably no PHILIPS brand!).
Although I bought this TV especially for the integrated media player so I do not need to buy a media player and need two remote controls to control it.
Wouldn't that be great, a TV that connects to your NAS via DLNA and plays (legally bought!) DVD/Bluray images from out your lazy chair without to change discs....
Most multimedia players can access a NAS via SMB or NFS. The limited DLNA feature and implementation isn't needed in such cases. DLNA is only needed, since the TVs and BDPs do not support such network protocols and due t that a DLNA server needs to provide the data.
I've given up with Philips and the idea to easily access my data on the NAS via DLNA, since not even half of what a modern hardware should be capable of was working.
The best you can do is buying a multimedia player for around 100 bucks and using the TV for watching TV and displaying the content your multimadiaplayer pulls out of the NAS and the BDP for wathing blurays.
I'm happy since I bought my AC Ryan. No issues with unsupported codecs, containers, isos, subtitles and so on.
Works like a charm and definetly reduces the hassle I had with my Philips hardware.
