DLNA streaming support for external subtitle files .srt

Thanks magnussen! That appears to be working on my Philips TV. (32PFL4007H) Subs are shown like it should be. My NAS is QNAP and media server is Twonky.

This is definitely my first and last TV set from PhilShit. Customer care way beyond competitors, possibilities as well. I will never recommend this shit even to my worst enemy. Good luck Philshit with further existence on market. Ambilight isn't enough to be competitive

Well, im using a iomega home network drive(pretty old one) This drive has the option to activate DNLA and someting that it calls "itunes". I thought it was only to share the folder with itunes. But actually it also shares the folder with with my hmp5000. I just tested it and now i'm able to use srt's and play multiple ISO's. So something like smb but only for mac or something?

and i thought that every Mplayer would support SMB. Kinda fail because i've paid like a 100 euro's for this thing

It's hard to understand that PHILIPS doesn't connect the dots. Thinking that people who touch DLNA are usually the techies. This - maybe small - group of persons is really using the feature and become frustrated not having their subs. Making it an obsolete feature.
And what are the non-technical people doing? Ask the techies what TV set to buy...

Too bad their is no fancy subtitle/DLNA logo that can pimp the PowerPoint presentation of a spoiled PHILIPS marketeer. Let's hope TP-Vision marketeers are more down to earth.

And saying that PHILIPS used to be the number one leader. Come on PHILIPS, be a good follower and do what Samsung, LG and Panasonic is doing: support those damn subs :)

I think I have tested all available media servers in the world and neighbourhood :) The best server for watching videos with subs is LXi Media Center(FREE) and Wild Media Server (PAID). PS3 Media Server used to skip some scenes when watching .mkv on my 42PFL6007K

PS3 Media Server stopped working for me on Windows 8, before I liked this player for the subtitle feature.

I started using KooRaRoo and it works perfectly. My files run smoothly and with subtitles!
The support is great and there was a special profile for the newer philips models.

Been using it for some weeks now and it works quite excellent.
When I had some trouble with streaming video through my home cinema system they helped me make a new profile and everything works perfectly.

I'm using a NAS, thus I don't have the processing power for an extended DLNA server. To resolve my problem I ordered a Raspberry Pi. I'll run XBMC on it. This will cost me 50 euro. The rbpi can be supplied by the tv usb, video over HDMI and control over HDMI-CEC.

From USB device I have subtitle on my BDP5200/12 but through DLNA it does. I prefer Cyberlink PDVD12 with media stream function but not work! I also tried an alternative SERVIIO but no supports external subtitles for Philips. At the end the Windows Vista media player-server there is also no support for load external .srt :mad:

Attention, Philips sells its products on Conrad Electronic!

Create XSUB or Idx/Sub, how? Encoded or clear stream...
