Is your Blu ray disc not playing back?

Dear Users,

To help you as fast and as good as possible with any issues regarding the playback of your Blu-ray discs, please always make sure you have the latest firmware installed.

If your issue remains, always post the following info:
- Exact title of the disc
- EAN* reference number of the disc (series of number below the barcode on the box of the disc)
- Model Number of your device
- SW version installed on your device
- Exact problem faced (e.g. freezes on the menu, freezes at a certain time, picture cuts, etc)

* How to find the EAN reference number of a disc ?

Once we have the EAN reference number, we will order the disc accordingly so that we are able to do some extended tests to see if we can reproduce the issue.

Please keep in mind that these test will take some weeks, from ordering date to the actual testing.

Can not load disk.
The device sound like a matrix printer while trying to detect.
And report 'onbekende disk' (dutch)
The disk is dust free and has no scratches.

Had same problem with SW version 52.01

My other blu_ray discs plays fine.

Bought yet another Philips blu-ray player, the BDP 3200/12 (GS model, latest 1.67 software) after discovering small picture stutter problems with certain blu-ray discs (see below) on my previous BDP 2850/12 (latest/only software), but to my surprise, my new BDP 3200/12 suffers from exactly the same problem...with the same discs.

Disc 1 is the WALKING DEAD with ean number 5-704028233390
Disc 2 is a danish movie VED VERDENS ENDE with the ean number 5-708758683050 (available on Amazon.co.uk)

Sound is fine, and the choppy playback is not that apparent.....more like watching content streamed from the internet.
It seems like the players are skipping a frame once every second or two.

Tried every possible format and picture setting (incl. 24fr on/off), but nothing helps. Discs playback fine on another Samsung player, and both the BDP2850 and the BDP 3200 generally delivers a fine picture from other discs.

Any ideas or firmware on the way ?

got the same movie today Walking dead and discover the same problem. Same in our other Philipsplayer. Hm. First Alien Anthology then Harry Potter (posted in another thread and no respons) and now this movie. I have borrowed a panasonic player from the store and all 3 films are working fine on that player..(alien, Harry Potter and Walking dead). I think i have to change playermodel soon if this continue.

I'm also wondering why there have been no response from anybody from Philips yet.

I think there is a missunderstanding. None of the Philips player i tested was working with Harry Potter. I didnt test any other film in the store. I have borrow a Panasonic BDT110 for a few days, from the store today and all of the film is working perfect, also Walking dead. Running very smothly.
Regarding Alien Anthology, theres is no problem with framedrops like the two other films.
When you start this movie (dir cut) the screen is zoomed up, and you just have a little picture in the corner. The workaround is to go back to the main menu and start the movie from a chapter 1. Same poblem was occure on Oppo-players but they released a firmware realy fast.

OK...must have misunderstod you about the other Philips players. So they also had the problem :-(

My 2 problem discs play just fine in both an LG and even an old Samsung player, so it must be related to hardware and especially firmware.

But unfortunately no response yet from anybody related to Philips.

Maybe we should post a big ATTENTION thread in the main forum.

I have a playing problem for this new bluray disc:

Title Blu-ray disc: Harry Potter and the deathly hallows Part 2 - Special Features disc
EAN: 5996514009224
Device: BDP5180/12
SW version: V1.54

Error message: Unknown disk.

The device not recognize the disc.
The disk is new and dust free and has no scratches.
Other Blu ray discs plays fine.
When will be the new firmware release for BDP5180/12, what solve this problem?

Device: BDP8000/12
SW version: 1.60

There are little "jumps" in the image every 3-4 minutes during the whole movie. No problems with audio. The jumps are visible even with the "frame-by-frame" feature.
The problem is visible with 1080p/24, 1080p, 720p, 576i, HDMI Deep Colour= OFF, Video Bluray 3D= OFF.
Other users reported the same problem with different Philips players (3000 and 7000 series).

Lots of framejumps in the movie.
Here are some examples of timestamps of the problems....06:19, 13:18, 16:36, 20:05, 23:22, 25:58, 27:24, 31:10, 33:50, 36:44, 37:21, 40:44, 41;19...

We are experiencing a "stutter" problem with a lot of bluray discs here in Brazil, every few seconds.

Model: BDP3200x/78
Firmware version: last released (1.66)

Some of the discs:

"A pele (La Peau)". EAN: 7898467625040.
"O escafandro e a borboleta" (Le scaphandre et le papillon) EAN: 7897119458500
"A queda! As últimas horas de Hitler" (Der Untergang) EAN: 7897119458722
"Quem quer ser um milionário? (Slumdog Millionaire)" EAN: 7897119458340
"A vida dos outros" (Das Leben der Anderen) EAN: 7897119458333

Making some research on the internet, we found it could be something related to "motion interpolation" and "telecine judder". In fact, the effects of problems related to this matter are stutter at constant rate, as we have been facing. However, we are not sure and we'll contact technical support here.

Most discs, kwinnie. But it didn't happen, for instance, with:

"Distrito 9 (District 9)", EAN: 7892770023777
"O segredo dos seus olhos" (El secreto de tus ojos), EAN: 7897119458142

And a few rented from the video store, such as "Além da vida (Hereafter)", by Clint Eastwood. We also tried with rented copies of the same movies we bought, and it happened the same way.

All of them worked very well on my brother's bluray player, which is not a Philips.

And I forgot to mention: it doesn't happen to DVDs at all. All of them run perfectly.

I don't know if there's a frame-rate difference or standard difference (PAL, NTSC; I mean, before they were mastered in HD) between the discs. It could be the reason for the difference in performance concerning picture stutter and telecine judder, maybe (supposing this is the cause of trouble). But I'm not sure.

I'd say a bad/good rate of 60%/40%, till now.

Here we go again. Now Star Wars Saga Disc/Movie 5 & 6. (1-4 is working fine)
Want start. Just a black screen and only "play" in the display. After 5-10min waiting i have to take the powercable out because the player didnt answer my command. Starting the player up again and the film is working. Same with film nr.6 when i changed the disc. Freezes and then unplugged the machine. I have seen other reports in this forum about this Movie and the same problem. Working fine in my Panasonic BD.
