Hi,
I bought a Philips 26PFL5604H TV, but its movie playback leaves much to be desired.
tried several Xvid and DivX movies, only one of them played flawlessly, others began to "jerk" (low framerate?) after 10 minutes. It stopped if I rewinded a few seconds, then after the same time frame the choppy playback returned.
Morever, the TV doesn't play a single H.264 AVC file (black screen with audio stream).
What is going on?
Any support would be appreciated.

The built in media player has very poor compatibility with media in general. Your better off getting a separate media player, Philips have shown no indication of improving it.
H.264 video is very picky on the Philips players it generally needs to be at 1280x720 or 1920x1080 resolution exactly to play.

That's bad news. I see: the H.264 files I tried had non-standard resolutions. But, whatever, I can live without HD.
What's saddening is that it seems that the jerkiness happens on 23.~fps files (much more frequent), yet 25 fps ones are fine. I still not completely sure that's the case though.
UPDATE: I confirm my suspicion on poor 23.976 fps movie playback support.
That seems to be the reason of stuttering.
I confirm the movie playback problems also on my 37PFL7605. It's a shame that a brand as good as Philips does not intend to fix these kind of problems.Quote:
