Philips 6007 is very elegantly designed modern LCD TV that combines the distinctive elements of the manufacturer with a thin frame and a sturdy stand. Glossy screen coating is surrounded by a frame which is shared by only a millimeter design in one plane. There is also 18mm of unused space that you can see on pitcure.
The view from the side reveals that it is equipped with Philips TV Ambilight Spectra 2 backlit. A total of 10 LEDs located on the right and left side, which illuminate the area behind the screen depending on the contents of the screen, thus giving a feeling of watching a larger screen diagonal. In addition, the Ambilight switched completely dark space less strain on your eyes, so you can watch movies with no additional lighting in the room.

The biggest change in visual identity, which combines gray, orange and blue tones with a clean white font that is readable and clear. The interface has been changed beginning with the installation until the menu for adjusting image parameters. What has changed is the slowness of the interface and its complexity, which has always bothered us. Again it is not possible to jump from last to first selection in the menus or quickly open the advanced settings for image adjustment. The main menu is not already configured in a single plane, and how to setup the segment is at its very end, it was a lot of clicks to arrive at his option. Built-in digital instructions are well designed and offer plenty of useful information.
SmartTV platform is exactly the same as in model 5 Series - Applications are in two rows at the bottom of your screen, next to the area containing the current input (Now on TV in the picture) and ad space to the right. Time and date, weather conditions and temperature are located in the upper right part.
The supplied remote control follows the new design that we first met on the 5 Series, but with less rounded edges, add some buttons and a completely smooth back. Referred back to the higher series models will be filled using the QWERTY layout, which will facilitate the use of Smart TV platform. The remote control uses IR technology to communicate and work well and is comfortable to use. Philips 6007, despite an altered visual interface, kept the same number of templates as well as the previously tested models. As usual, we first check all the default templates in 2D, and 3D-US and glasses laid between the sensor and the screen to get the realistic results.
With the results for 2D mode, we are more than happy with the templates that offer too bright, dynamic and artificially enhanced image, there is one which gives very precise characteristics - Movie theme. Starting from gamma, which is perfectly proper and averaged 2:20 of reference, through the RGB balance to be successfully held below the threshold value of 3 to 90% and 100% brightness, where little grows, to a range of colors and defects in their view, the TV is Philips 6007H which gives an accurate picture without the need for calibration - provided you a realistic black color and high contrast are of paramount importance.
Though, how Philips uses IPS panels from LG in the 6 Series models, so the contrast in line with what we have already measured and verified. 890:1 contrast is without blanking, or just over 1000:1 dimming when the entire screen is active. The black color of 0198 cd/m2 is a very high value and about 10 times greater than the value that is considered a realistic limit of black - 0.02 cd/m2. Considering displays high brightness (176 cd/m2 while for dark conditions recommended 100-120 cd/m2), calibration in this regard can help to lower the value of black for a particular measure. In any case, the IPS panel does not show anything new.
On the range of colors we have no objection when the movie theme is active - just a shade of green for low saturation, and slightly purple geared toward blue. Given that the TV does not have a fully fledged CMS color management system, this result can be very satisfied.
By switching to 3D mode, we were greeted by the same templates as in 2D mode, but with separate settings so that you can use the same template for 2D and 3D mode, but with different settings. 3D we also discovered Cinema template as the most accurate, although here we clearly noticed that the glasses over the green color comes into play (about 10% more than it should), so you need to configure Custom Tint control and reduce its share. Color temperature is a constant and close to the target 6500 K and color range is only slightly weaker as far as colors - cyan, yellow and red colors in smaller deviations, but far from any ozbljnih amplitude. Gamma with an average value of 2:08 is not as precise as in the 2D mode, but still within 5% deviation compared to the reference, which is also good.
Black color trough the glasses leaning on the screen is 12:02 cd/m2, with a maximum brightness of 98.9, ie nearly 100 cd/m2.

After very good results of Philips models from 5000 and 5500, we expect at least the same performance of the models and 6000th Unfortunately, tests and various film materials we use are clearly shown us that PFL6007 has many weak points, which may negatively affect the viewing experience.
For starters, let's start from the Pixel Precise HD processing and its first two options: HD Natural Motion (dejudder component to insert new images for more fluid presentation) and Clear LCD (deblur component for reducing blur). At Philips, we have been satisfied that separating these two components, which enabled the user to obtain clear images with minimal blur, while the content of the film does not get the video footage that is more fluid than the original records. How to reduce blur when it is active only Clear LCD we checked through Monoscope Resolution and Pattern 2 samples of the FPD Benchmark disc, and noticed that the mentioned control does not affect the resolution of moving, but it is in both cases (On and Off) the same - 250 total of 1080 lines. The problem with the interpolation of this year, LG and had a series of software patches is only half the problem solved, but now it seems that we wait for the new Philips patches mentioned parameter. However, more mobile resolution can be obtained now, but only if the HD Natural Motion is active enough, and the minimum value. In this case the display sharpness increases almost three times and is about 750 lines of vertical resolution, which is a solid result. However, this result does not come without interpolation, which movement is poorly executed, and that brings artifacts around moving objects on the same samples, which means interfere with attention. The next item is a Dynamic Backlight, or control that changes the intensity of LEDs behind the screen to create a greater contrast and attractive picture. Philips advertises so. Micro Dimming local dimming is implemented into this model and what is available in demo mode (press the red button on the remote control). Micro Dimming control is not stated anywhere in the menus, but it should be part of the Dynamic Backlight item, which offers three settings - Standard, Best Power and Best Picture - as well as on other Philips TVs. Although we have the calibration settings and noticed that the analysis would be desirable to activate the specified control and keep it as the standard value, after we looked at the actual contents have not been overly enthusiastic in its ignition. The Dynamic Backlight does not provide a quality local dimming but changing intensity of white on the screen, and in some cases hides the details on objects. We observed this phenomenon in the letters in the PlayStation 3 interface, loading Blu-ray movies, and in specific scenes where he comes from a loss of fine detail. Turning off these options display loses contrast, however, because the consistent performance and no loss of detail and variation in brightness.
The problem is certainly the Philips 6007 cadenza interlaced signal, all that we tried. During playback of test material could clearly see the effect of wavy pattern (moire) and jaggy, and the SD content and occasionally jerking scenes. It is not rare that even though cadence tests do not pass, when viewing TV and DVD movie playback is stable, but this is not the case. Watching TV over DVB-T signals, we noticed that occasionally appears white line along the entire width of the content on the screen at the bottom of your screen, you can follow a more pronounced effect in the frame notched trowel. Notch is not seen so much of TV programs in DVD movies with the subtitles turned on. When playing 1080i content on Blu-ray view was much more stable than the SD DVD and TV content, especially after we activate or Computer Game option - in these cases, the effect of undulating patterns almost completely disappeared.
Looking at patterns of sharpness we noticed bluish halo around the thinnest lines, which are present even when the sharpness down to zero, and Advanced Sharpness is turned off. Increasing Sharpness blue trail turns into the white rimmed and stronger all the lines on the screen, which is normal. For samples of linear filtering luma channel (white and black), we found that the vertical line appears at the aforementioned blue border, which is not in the original material. The decision imposed an artificial sharpness in activation or Computer Game options, which excludes further processing for interpolation. Bluish tinge can be detected and fine lines around the dynamics (eg Monoscope test).
Finally, we mention an anomaly that has happened while playing Blu-ray movie The Dark Knight, and when we activate the Computer option - the screen is a horizontal line that appeared to zamaknula video so that the display was at least strange. The line is moved down at an easy pace and remained approximately at the end. 200 lines from the bottom of the screen and stayed there until we once again turn on and turn off the Game / Computer option. In any case, what kind of anomalies we have not yet seen.
After all this the fact that Philips 6007 has excellent imaging characteristics in the area of color reproduction and gamma characteristics fall into the background, but far from us that this TV did not provide many impressive scenes. IMAX's Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D looked very good - rich color reproduction and smooth flicker-free images and notched trowel that would be anything more than the other polarization 3D TVs. 3D glasses obscure the image about 60%, so the black color was not as pale and white without losing significantly in its intensity.
2D materials have also looked good, but primarily because of the calibrated settings so that the details in the shadows were accurately presented, and the region of higher brightness are not overly exposed. The exception is the only active Dynamic Backlight Control, which may affect the detail of bright objects. Acuity is not imposed fested in normal viewing, and noise figure was presented without any reduction. Moreover, the 6007 model, we did not see the intense noise reduction even when the People's Republic of active control.
Finally, there is an SD signal which is in DVD movies looked solid if not played directly through the SCART interface, while the TV was somewhat weaker due to poor (or completely missing) reduction of MPEG compression artifacts and the effect of a swarm of flies (Mosquito Effect) . Philips 6007 has a 2.1 speaker configuration set to the back to give a well-rounded midrange area as long as it does not exaggerate the volume. Given the position of the speaker, the quality also depends on the kind of background and how far the wall is a television, but just as with nearly all modern TVs, the playback quality strongly recommend connecting an external audio system.

Another segment in which Philips 6007 is not brilliant - even offers support for MKV, many of tried material was present twitching that substantially impairs the quality of viewing. DivX in SD and HD variants is supported, as well as subheadings that show diacritics. DTS audio is not supported, as well as HD audio formats. Only the interface is visually well-resolved, but follows the same ga slowness and other menus, which makes navigation slow.
