Usb video not supported

Hi, I'm Marco from Rome.

I'm very satisfied with the video quality of my Philips tv's (22PFL2807H/12 and 32PFL7404H/12). Not the same with their usb video compatibility. I hoped something better expecially for the new one (22PFL2807H/12) but I was very disappointed when I discovered that the old one is able to read more videos than the newer.
Find below the data parametres of a video not supported by my 22PFL2807H/12. Unfortunately other different ones can't be read.

I apologise for the delayed answer.

Could you please confirm to me the extention file of this video? ( .MKV,.AVI, .MP4)

As of what I can see the video codec is within specifications of the TV, however it might be something within the audio codec that is not and this can be the reason why you file will not play on the 2807.

When it comes to the 2 TV's you have, these are on the different level of range and this does also affect the specifications of the TV including files that is playable on the TV. Your 7404 is a high end set while the 2807 is an entry level TV.

The file extension is avi, the other parameters are the ones I wrote. Should be useful, I can send you a part of the video.
Concerning the level of the tv's, you're right but the last one is 2 years older. I'm disappointed because other brands can read more kind of files with their entry level tv's.
I like Philips for their quality and for the assistance (e.g, you were very kind to answer). I often suggest Philips to friends even if I have to explain that the compatibility with audio and video codec is not full.
I hope that new firmwares will improve it also for my 2807.

The supported codecs in the .AVI extention:

Extention: .aviVideo codec: MPEG2, MPEG4Xvid 1.00,Xvid 1.01, Xvid 1.02, Xvid 1.03,Xvid 1.10-beta1/2H.264
Audio codec: PCM

This means the audio codec might not be PCM and is the reason why it's not able to play. You only provided me the Video codec in the file so by finding the audio codec we can figure out if it's within specifications or not.

When it comes to compatibility for playable files on the series of our TV's, this gets more and higher the higher series you get.

As you wrote it'not pcm. But as you know the audio codec is not often pcm. I would say it's never pcm...
So, I hope Philips will fix this issue by a new firmware.

Hi Marco.

Sorry for delay in answer.
By that I mean that the higher end sets you get (like your 7404) the more files and codecs they support than an entery level set. This comes to all devices and not only TV's.

Hi Benedickte,

The fact is quite different. Some codecs that can't be ridden by 7404 can be played by 2807 and viceversa. I avoid boring you with the details. Is it so difficult for Philips to upgrade the firmware in order to make all the most common codecs readable? Just like Samsung or Lg with their entry level Tv's?
