Greetings,
The new Philips BDP3480 seems like an interesting blu-ray player and one of the few that support SSA/ASS subtitles (which is very nice). However, it can seemingly not play FLAC audio...
I want really good file support. A built-in file player that can play ogm video files, MKV files with ogg audio and FLAC audio, and most importantly can display ASS subtitles (only few players are...
The media players from Philips can play ISO files I belive, but then you can't use optical discs.
I really wish Philips released a blu-ray player that had the same file support as those media...
That's nice, thanks :)
Is there any chance to see support for ogg vorbis (and flac) within MKV/MKA files in a future firmware? Since they are already supported within other containers?
Aww, that's unfortunate :(
Thanks for the answer though :)
Greetings,
I just found out about the very interesting BDP5500/12. In the leaflet it say it support Ogg Vorbis, which I think is wonderful as I have a few MKV files with vorbis audio. But when I...
I've only read two 7606 reviews that measured the input lag. While the 7606 isn't the same as the 7906, I would guess their input lag are fairly similiar.
FlatPanelsHD measured the input lag to...
I'm pretty sure it's a Full RGB TV. As far as I know, the Limited RGB range TVs were just common 5+ years ago, so it's a setting for old flat TVs.
Aye, advertisements never show the whole picture. It's up to the buyer to do research first, and that's what I always do before spending some major €€€.
Fortunately, in this internet age, that's a...
In the past two years Philips were king when it came to input lag compared to other LCD TV manufacturers (with the possible exception/equal being Sharp), and now this year the input lag seem to be...
I wasn't aware of the HMP7000, but to be able to put in a HDD would indeed be quite nice (especially if it had enough room for a large 3,5" drive) :)
Not that important though, as I don't really...
What I feel the current blu-ray models from Philips lack is a good media player.
The new Philips HMP3000 is impressive as it can handle ogg, flac and various subtitle formats, and everything else ...
Just found out about this and is very impressed that it can handle so many formats. I didn't expect this sort of thing from Philips.
If any of the next year blu-ray models from Philips that can...
A few mkv files use ogg for audio, so it would be nice to see support for ogg via a firmware.
This is excellent news, if true, as I intend to buy a 55PFL7606.
Agreed.
Very cool, hope Nokia N9 get something similiar too :)
What about the Meego OS which the upcoming Nokia N9 will use?

It got QT like Symbian so I guess it wouldn't be particulary hard to port it over.
I think subtitles are very important, I hope they support them in a future firmware.
I think it's pretty dumb to not support this, I hope we will see it in a future firmware.
You're right. It seems like the PFLXXXXT models support DVB-T2. I hope there will be 7606T models then.
I'm interested in this TV too, but I want a DVB-T2 model.
I'm interested in DVB-T2 myself. There's a big push for DVB-T2 here in Sweden at the moment, but it seems like Sony and Panasonic are the only ones who care about it.
So am I. I fear the quality of the TVs will go down big time from using cheap chinese parts.
Back in 2006-2008 or so Samsung used cheap chinese capacitors (Samwha) for their TVs which...
I too want to see support for subtitles in their TVs. SRT and SSA/ASS subtitles that are imbedded into MKV containers.
I will buy a new TV later this year, currently trying to choose between...
