All docks will charge automatically as far as I am aware, but your iPods battery stops charging when it's full. So leaving it on the dock will not harm the internal battery at all...

Have you tried resetting the unit at all? If you allow the player to 'update' it should work. When I change the ID3's it takes a while to update, but next time i use my player all info is correct.

Maybe you might be best of using Windows Media Player instead and just drag&drop instead? Only use Songbird for updates from time to time? Thats what I do!!

Just a suggestion- maybe try doing a soft reset, i use a pin to press the button on the player if I'm having problems, then connect to PC again?
