Is it true that the only changes from V1.60 to v1.63 are improved playback on one BD and generally improved BD-Java playback?
I ask because when I upgraded to V1.60 I noticed several improvements...
I second this. While I am all for automation this is clearly a feature implemented by an engineer that did not think things thru. It takes long enough to power up the BDP without having to wait for...
kwinnie, it works on USB as well now -which is the most important thing to me. I have even gotten .srt subtitle files to work on many files.
I would still like to know if there are issues with NAS...
Yes, the new FW fixed that, so now I am happy. I have only tried DLNA with the current version of Twonkyvision Media Server, but that worked with 1.56 too. (Not sure if subtitles worked then, but...
While it still does not respond to the remote during the first 20 seconds of play there is no longer any need to hit pause (and then play to resume) with .AVI (and .MKV with .AVI) to prevent the...
I know, which is what makes me hopeful! Do you have a link to a download page for this release or will it work using the BDP's built-in update feature?
I took a quick look at the product page but...
Kwinnie, thanks for your input. In my case, I have not tried disabling the screen saver. I will do that later tonight.
But, Philips have confirmed that they have been able to reproduce the...
Interesting, but still no word on the poor DLNA implementation and the lockups if you do not hit play/pause during the first minutes of play when playing .AVI from USB/LAN.
Perhaps it has been...
Again, the Philips team must be very busy working on a new firmware since they have gone silent here...:)
I hope the silence from Philips's representatives here means they are very busy finalizing the next public firmware. :)
A few months ago Philips was able to reproduce the problem the BDP-8000 has when you play an .avi file (even those in an .mkv container). It will not respond to any buttons for the first 20 seconds...
I too had issues after upgrading to 1.56, but I returned my unit and requested a new unit. The store gave me a new unit as mine was less than two weeks old. I hesitated long before I upgraded the...
a_Tom, I should have written in my first post that both disks have the same data on them.
I do believe this is not limited to the 8000 series but most BDPs. When I upgraded to SW 1.56 I could not help notice that it took almost a minute from the moment I selected Browse USB untill I could...
Glad to hear things are working for you now. If memory serves me righ, there was a post made by Philips (the moderator) about 1.53 beeing the latest version that players could find for themselves...
I have not seen anything about it in the documentation, so I too think it's a feature that is not there on the BDP8000. If I need it, I use the AV-receivers ability to delay the sound.
Again, the...
With all due respect, I think you miss one crucial element. Yes, the sound has a digital source, but before the soundwaves reach your ears they are amplified but what most probably is an analogue...
The original post only mentions the BDP as not beeing able to passthrough sound, not the Apple TV.
Why would my suggestion not be a solution for him? The built-in 7.1 decoder of his BPD would give...
Perhaps an old thread, but still interesting as it si not solved yet. Are your movies in the .AVI format? If so, I have reported the issue to Philips. It is part of the DLNA implementation of at...
Could it be that your Apple TV and Sat TV "only" use DTS and DD, which the TV can passthrough? For Blu-Ray, your BDP will use DTS-MA and DD True HD, which your TV may not be able to passthrough.
...
I too would like such an option even though my tv is a 2010 model and has a customizable home page. As I can rename the inputs on the source meny, it is quite usefull.
To each their own.
It may well be what any given manufacturer wants you to believe, but never the less it is not true.
What is true is that in order to receive DLNA 1.5 certification it is enought only to be able to...
I recall reading somewhere on this board that after 1.53 the BDPs no longer find updates online. I decided to test that as my replacement unit ran 1.41. It did say that there was a new version...
Thanks for your thoughts.
I did use a wired network, beeing fully aware of WLAN limitations. And no, I do not agree with you when you say a thing like loosing settings may not be firmware related....
While any improvement may be usefull, I would rather wish Philips would focus on getting .AVI to play over DLNA without freezing on a wider range of media server software than Twonkyvision 6.0.32....
