HDT8520 picture stutter

I have a HDT8520 tuner/recorder. intermittently the picture freezes and the sound carries on as normal or it makes a squeaking noise and the picture/sound jumps. I have updated to the latest firmware with no effect.

I suspect the hard disk drive is retrying and getting out of step. Is this a possibility and could I replace the Hard Disk Drive with a new one and just use the MENU option to reformat.

Any help in resolving this would be appreciated.

Hi,
I have a similar problem to john27's with my HDT8520. I have updated the firmware but to no improvement. The symptom is that on HD channels the picture will randomly freeze/stutter for a fraction of a second although the sound continues ok. The picture then catches up with the sound. It is most infuriating when watching a football transmission. I've had the aerial and signal reception checked and found to be strong.
Please give your best guidance and advice.

Finally resolved my problem. It was not the HDT8520 but turned out to be a very intermittent connection on the aerial cable connection to the aerial itself.
