I have a HDT8520 tuner/recorder. intermittently the picture freezes and the sound carries on as normal or it makes a squeaking noise and the picture/sound jumps. I have updated to the latest firmware with no effect.

I suspect the hard disk drive is retrying and getting out of step. Is this a possibility and could I replace the Hard Disk Drive with a new one and just use the MENU option to reformat.

Any help in resolving this would be appreciated.
