Can Philips TV: 40PFL9704H record through SMART TV?
I have a Philips 40PFL9704H TV bought 2 years ago, (which costed me a lot), and I read somewhere here that nevertheless, since it is a model from 2009 it is not possible to record on it via Smart TV. (??)
IS THIS CORRECT?
Furthermore I also read that in case of TV able to record through SMART TVs, (those containing a "6" produced from 2011), for them it is not possible to record one channel and see another.
my questions are the following:
1)Would it be possible, with my TV 9704H, to record on USB device If I bought the Philips BDP 9700 blu ray reader (through its smart tv incorporated) ? In this case could I record one channel on the usb in the blu ray reader and see another channel on my tv?
2) which other ways would I have, with my Philips TV serie 9000 (year 2009) to record one channel and see another?
Should I Buy another competitor brand blu ray reader + recorder with HDD incorporated?
I really wish I could stay with Philips also for the blu ray reader!
thanx

Hi,
1) you cannot record with your TV - also not in the future with a firmware update
2) you need to buy an external dual-tuner (or quad-tuner) set-top box for recording and watching in parallel

thank you, maybe I didn't explain myself properly in my second question,
in case I decided then to buy the newest Blu Ray reader by Philips (BDP 9700) which has Smart tv plus incorporated and a USB port, would it be possible to record, on an USB stick put in the blu ray reader?
thx
