    This year Philips will introduce SMART TV.

    SMART TV is not a new Net TV , it is whole new set-up, Net TV is part of it.

    Feedback from journalists is nice. But I have a feeling that feedback from customers is more important, as customers buy products...
    And nowadays, forums are the dominant mean of customer information.

    The journalist's feedback could be nice only if they've not Phlips TV models at home!

    Externally they're still beautiful: usability strongly compromised by this technical failures still not solved.

    And the time is going by --> brand reputation is sinking.

    Don’t worry; journalists are the most critical consumers you can have. If they like it, it must be good….
    I expect that there will be many improvements based on ideas, remarks and complaints from this forum!
    Indeed, we are curious how far the SMART TV concept will be “backwards compatible”.

    I believe we will get IP-EPG for 2009 models (those that didn't already have it).
    And some features from that smart tv for 2010 models.
    I wish that Smart TV menu comes for all Net TV models (with different features of course).

    We already have jointSPACE for 2009 and 2010 models to control the TV with PC, iPod, iPhone, iPad, Nintendo DS, Android, etc. We can also send pictures from PC to our TV with 2009 and 2010 models (with 1st and 3rd party software).

    P.S.Sharp Aquos NET+ and Loewe Web TV will be out with Philips's NetTV and we will get new Apps in no time for Philips NetTV because of the "tri-community".

    Should I buy a non-Smart TV product?

    I really want to buy a 58PFL9955 screen which isn't a Smart TV product.
    But I like that new software and features.

    Do you think the "Platinum" 3D screen will be updated and will have same features than the "Gold" one?
    I suppose it will be strange to ship a product at half the price which have more software features.

    Hi,

    in 2011 also a Cinema 21:9 Platinum (58PFL9956) will be released - and this model will have all the Smart TV features... but I think the release will be at the earliest in September...
