Need some info regarding the Philips 42PFL6907H
Hi all,
I'm new around here and I'm considering to buy a Philips, since I had an issue with Panasonic dead pixel warranty and I don't want to know more about them.
Basically I got some question in particular for the Philips 42PFL6907H,
- I need to know if the Ethernet port is Gigabit or Fast ethernet.
- If DIVX is supported (read the manual but it only specifies that DIVX is only on VOD).
- Which HDMI version is using(1.4a or 1.4b).
- And last but more important how many dead pixels are covered by the warranty.
Thanks for your help!
Cheers,
Rod

Didn't read anything on dead pixels in this forum before, but Philips TVs have a built-in feature to turn off and on all pixels for a second several times per evening, due to bugs in the network/DLNA/Easilink SW.

When you search this forum for Pixel defect, you will find this reaction from Philips:
Hi Kr.,
Pixel defects do not happen so much anymore, but cannot be completely prevented.
Also dark defects are less annoying then bright spots.
It is also covered in the beginning of the Product User Manual:
Click image for larger version. Name: ScreenHunter_069.jpg Views: 46 Size: 14.7 KB ID: 889
For dark defects (dot defect or foreign material on backlight) the spec's are:
- Max 7 dark dots (adjacent dark dots count as 2).
- Max 5 'point' defects D<1.2 mm.
- Max 5 'long' defects W<1mm, L<10 mm.
- FHD-screens: max 2 pair of adjacent dark dots, volume limit is 5% (dGG < 0.5%).
So, I'm afraid that one dark spot of yours is within the spec.
Regards,
JuAn

Thanks for your replay, but I didn't understand well this feature, why Philips should turn off pixels? Meaning turning off the screen? And why such feature just for bugs which aren't related to the screen itself? hmmm

I was just kidding. My TV has a problem that it reboots almost every evening (sometimes even more times per evening). In that case the screen goes black, sound drops and resumes the TV channel after about one second (sometimes shorter, sometimes longer). This problem has something to do with the fact that Philips TVs do not fully support DLNA network.

My tv reboots if i fast zap channels up/down . Iám on the ziggo network wit CI digital card.
When i do the same on the "old" analog channels there is no problem.
