Philips 50pp920217 black screen

I was given a Philips 50pp920217 and was told that if I fix it, I can have it. The power light comes on red when the power button is pressed (not sure what color it's supposed to be, I've never had one) I found a repair kit at http://www.tvrepairkits.com/xcart/home.php?cat=3528 that says it fixes "No Audio/No Video" problem. Just wondering if it's worth it to risk $68.00 and it not be the solution..... I know nothing about tv's or how to fix them....

you can only be sure, if you ask - maybe the have some other ideas to solve your problem without repair...

The 50pp9202/17 is a projection tv with CRT tubes. That means high voltage is present and repair should only be done when you know what you are doing. The proposed repair kit is only meant for fixing a convergence problem, a common problem with such tv's.
