    DS8800W/10 Firmware update problem

    Hello there,

    Because of my DS8800W/10 is interupting the playing of music constantly over Airplay, i try to upgrade the firmware. I found that the firmware is 3.8.79.1001 from 2011-06-10. After that i try to find the firmware but it is nowhere to be found. I the instruction video by Philips they say to get the ZIP-file from the right corner of the product screen, but there is no zip file. If you go to support/ firmware on the philips page and you type DS8800W/10 you find no results.
    Please help on where to get the firmware and how to update the speaker. I'm almost throwing it out of the window.....

    I've read somewhere that this may help - connect your device to your pc and enter 192.168.1.1, once done you should get inside the device and upgrade it from there

    I just found the sollution to this.
    Get the firmware V3.8.88.1000 from device DS9800W/10 (Philips Fidelio Docking Station.)
    Goto the Connections page of your Wireless Router and find the DS8800W/10 and check wich IP adress it has assigned.
    Type this IP Adress in your Browser (For me it was 192.168.1.111)
    You should get into the settings page of the device.
    Goto Update Firmware and Update with The Unzipped File CR870_v3.8.88.1000.bcd

    The DS8800W/10 Works now perfect.

    Hi

    Can anyone please advise where I can download the firmware from. I am in the UK and when I go to the support page I get everything BUT the option to download the firmware. It is simply not there on the support page for the product.

    Is anyone able to send me the direct link please?

    I didn't read the post properly.

    If I had, I would have seen that there is no official update for this one, instead you have to use the firmware for a different model!

    It is not recommended to use DS9800W/10 for DS8800W/10 as UI will not work (e.g. DS9800W has no on-board volume keys).

    Hi,
    Can you provide the link with the proper firmware update for this product please?
    because my speaker have the same problem,
    "interrupting the playing of music constantly over Airplay"
    This shouldn't be an issue for the main feature of the speaker.

There is no firmware update available for the DS8800W, and we do not recommend you to use the update file for the DS9800W. Let’s have a look at the issue, does the same thing happen when you use the AUX port to play music?

    Hi Christofer,

    Where can we get the firmware then? its a bit odd this problem still persists for me as i have not updated the firmware. i cant even use the AUX jack. Right now, i have to wait for my speaker to be in a 'Good Mood' then i can listen to music.

    Firmware update on DS8800W/37 Fixed all my issues.

    I have three DS8800W/37 speakers and they are fantastic speakers. They all started behaving badly this year: intermittent connections to wifi, and when connected to wifi they appear in Airplay menus but only produce sound from iTunes - and not from iPad and iPhone. So I took the leap and upgraded the firmware to 3.8.88.3700 (despite all the warnings - it was update or throw them away - so what choice did I have).

    It took multiple attempts to succeed but the result is a much improved more stable product - connects faster, plays from all my devices and less intermittent music (and the volume buttons work correctly). Here were the steps i took: The whole process is likely to take an hour or so, and can be a bit tricky, but it is worthwhile if you persevere (and I did try to post pics but it seems the forum does not like my pngs).

    Steps marked * have instructions elsewhere on the site on in the manual.

    1. Download the new firmware from Phillips (*) - if you can't find the firmware, try here

    Boot and reset
    2. plug in power: power light will flash green quickly to indicate the device is booting.
    3. wait for slow green: power light to go from flashing green quickly to flashing green slowly (30 secs).
    4. reset device: hold power button for about 8 seconds (power light goes solid green), release button.
    5. wait for slow green: (same as step 2)

    Connect to Wifi (*)
    6. Configure the device to connect to your wifi:
    - hold 'wifi setup' button for about 8 seconds (the power light alternates between yellow and green).
    - wait for about a minute
    - on your pc, mac or phone, connect to the Philips-Fidelio wifi signal.
    - on your pc, mac or phone, start a browser and visit 192.168.1.1 to connect to the device admin page.
    - on device admin page, select your wifi SSID and enter password, click 'apply', power light goes green.
    - device reboots - wait for power light to go from flashing green quickly to flashing green slowly (30 secs).
    - wait for beep & power light to go to solid green (60 secs), device is connected to your wifi.
    - if no beep & power light stays flashing green slowly, device is NOT connected to your wifi - Retry step 6

    Access the admin pages (*)
    7. Using your PC or Mac, connect to the device admin page over your wifi:
    - option 1: use safari, enable bonjour and select the device from the list.
    - option 2: use any browser and enter IP address of the device.
    -- you can get the IP Address by using a sniffer like fing or look at the DHCP client tables in your router
    -- it may take a while to learn how to enable bonjour (10 mins) or IP address management in routers (2 hours) - or get help from a friendly techie.

    Update Firmware: (*)
    8. On device admin page, click on 'Firmware Update', page will show device firmware status page (10sec)
    9. On the device firmware status page, note firmware version (stop if 3.8.88.3700), click OK.
    10. Power light will flash red slowly. Firmware status page will show IP address of the device - write it down.
    11. The Firmware status page should auto refresh, and show the Firmware upload page.
    - if auto refresh doesn't work, wait for up to 10 minutes and refresh the browser
    -- do not click on the links on the page to refresh, use the browser controls
    - If refresh doesn't work, then enter the IP address in a new browser window (I used Chrome)
    - If the firmware upload page is not visible, try entering the IP address in a new browser window again.
    - If you can't get to the firmware upload page, OR the power light stops flashing red slowly, go to step 2.
    12. On the firmware upload page, 'chose file' and select the firmware from step 1, click upload (60 sec).
    13. On the firmware upload page, watch the status of the upload to the device (bottom left on Chrome).
    14. You will now see the firmware update page, showing old & new firmware versions, click OK. Pray.
    - it is good to double check that you are updating the firmware to a newer version, if not then abort.
    15. Watch firmware update progress, wait for power light to go from red to flashing green, click OK.
    16. wait for slow green: power light to go from flashing green quickly to flashing green slowly (30 secs).

    and finally, get it connected again (*)
    17. Configure the device to connect to your wifi:
    - hold 'wifi setup' button for about 8 seconds (the power light alternates between yellow and green).
    - wait for about a minute
    - on your pc, mac or phone, connect to the Philips-Fidelio wifi signal.
    - on your pc, mac or phone, start a browser and visit 192.168.1.1 to connect to the device admin page.
    - on device admin page, select your wifi SSID and enter password, click 'apply', power light goes green.
    - device reboots - wait for power light to go from flashing green quickly to flashing green slowly (30 secs).
    - wait for beep & power light to go to solid green (60 secs), device is connected to your wifi.
    - if no beep & power light stays flashing green slowly, device is NOT connected to your wifi - Retry step 17
    - if retry fails, then try a reset as described in step 4, wait for slow green and then retry step 17.
    - if all this fails then start again at step 2 and give a loud sigh.
    18. Once you get solid green on the power light, check that airplay works... and you can also visit the device admin page per step 7 to check or change settings.
    19 Reward yourself - you have a world class speaker again!

    This firmware update is for the DS9800W and their may be issues - but it worked for me. See my post on the steps I took to perform the update.
