    Phillips SHC5100 wireless to TV

    Hi,

I am trying to help an old man in the local nursing home. He has bought headphones SCH5100 wireless so he can hear his TV (part deaf) without disturbing others near by. He bought them as my own father also has them but I connected them to my dads TV via a line out output so he can still use the TV volume and also use the headphones when he wants. On my dads TV this works great.

The problem is that on his friends TV Teac LEV40A1FHD is doesn't have a line out. It has a headphones jack but this completely wipes out the sound from the TV volume control and he is late 70's and cant be plugging and un plugging from the back of the TV. It does have a digital audio out coaxial but doesn't fit or work. I suspect this is what I need to be connecting to, is there a simple adapter that Phillips has

    regards,

    Richard

    Hello Richard,

    Thank you for your post.

The base of the headphones is supposed to be connected to the headphones jack connection in the TV so you've used the correct output. Volume gets muted in the TV while using headphones and this is expected and normal behaviour.

Coaxial output will not work with headphones as the signal is digital.

    Kind regards,
