I have this soundbar home cinema/ blu ray system since 2009. never been used much other than as home cinema, now i tried a Blu ray disc but only get the answer: disc unknown. it simply does not recognize the blu ray discs anymore, official one no copies. Anybody an idea what could be wrong? i am gong to try a software update since it may be long overdue but not sure if that would cure it. Any suggestions are more than welcome. thanks rolf

More than likely it is the software. In rare occasions it might be the actual disc, can you play disc on other Blu-ray player? But more importantly, can you play any discs in your HTS8160?

MrBarton, strangley enough i am tryin to update but without luck. if i use an Usb device the system tells that he can nto read the file. if iconnect it to the internet and try update trhough network the system tells me no valid software update found. interesting is it not?
o and by the way whatever disc i put in it is unreadable for the system.

If I were you I get in touch with your local support centre. I sound like you machine needs some service.

if you have disc unknown or unknown disc error shown for each and every disc you play, it is very likely a loader issue. and hence you are advised to go service for this.
