Correct me if I am wrong but this device (2009) does not support NTFS and only FAT...

Indeed, ridiculous! I've had contact with Philips about this. How is it possible, just to support only FAT.
The Blu-ray cinemasystems would be awesome to have ntfs-support and some extra software build in for playing several media-formats. Now i have a stupid little extra box next to my system:XTREAMER (does a perfect job; but the homecinemasystem should take this job...)

Split MKV files in order to obey FAT restrictions
As the bdp7500 only supports FAT (and no NTFS) and therefore file size is limited to 4 GB, I have difficulties to play large downloaded MKV blu ray files. I've already read about à possibility to split these files in smaller parts so they can be written on an external FAT hardware device, but so far I was not able to find a proper application or instruction to do so...
Is there anybody who knows à free (I'm Dutch
) software tool and instruction to help me out?

to my knowledge only models of/ before 2009 do not support NTFS
and for bdp7500, some supports some dont supports - bdp7500s2 does support (correct me if i'm wrong)
2010 and 2011 models are fine

Hi,
yeah - only the old models do not support NTFS... (like other brands)
From 7500S2 or B2 and newer NTFS support is integrated.
So nothing to worry about it.
