sa2mus 8gb will not turn on

Hi - had my gogear muse 8gb for 2.5 years with no problems. Yesterday it wouldn't turn on, despite a full charge. I installed Songbird and tried to do a firmware update and a repair/factory reset and every time I tried - the Songbird software crashed before the end of the update.

The unit will not turn on and the screen only lights up when attached to USB. Battery dead? When plugged into the pc, the unit shows full battery.

Any ideas what the problem might be and why the hell is the Songbird software so bloody rubbish?

Does it work fine when it's plugged into the PC then?

Plug into pc via usb cable and the screen lights up. I can press to transfer files. When it is not plugged into the pc, the power button doesn't switch the unit on. I guess it's either the battery has failed or a problem with the power button...

What does the battery level indicator say? Does it show its fully charged or maybe it is flashing? Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles. Battery life and number of charge cycles vary by use and settings. Have you tried with a new battery then?
